Park in the small car park on the banks of the Cher, below the D32 bridge.
(S/E) Start by following the blue markings westwards. Walk up Rue du Vieux Port and Rue des Carnaux. At the stop sign, continue straight ahead, slightly to the left, along a small hidden alleyway that leads to a pleasant footpath.
(1) Back on the road, turn left up Rue de Cormery, cross the departmental road and a few metres further on you will see the Croix Montqueuil.
(2) Take the farm track on the left, which leads to the hamlets of La Tortinière and Le Petit Mosny, where you will find blue markings. Continue straight ahead to reach the Patouillard farm.
(3) Follow the tarmac road on the left and, at the next crossroads, turn right onto the road that climbs towards Haute Maison.
(4) A little further on, just after a wooded area, leave the tarmac road and take a grassy path on the left (look for the blue signpost). The route first turns right, through fields, then left to join the D976 departmental road.
(5) When you reach the D976, do not cross it. Instead, look for a farm track that climbs a small embankment on your right (not signposted). This track rejoins the D976, where you should cross it.
(6) Then follow the path that turns slightly left into the undergrowth, then, once in the middle of the fields, turn right-angle left and then right to reach a small vineyard. After a short descent into the undergrowth, you will find a wider path.
(7) Take a straight track on the right, Taille de Palis, which runs mostly through forest until you reach the hamlet of Nitray.
(8) Take theGR®41(white and red markings) on the left to reach the left bank of the Cher. Continue left to reach the mobile needle dam.
(9) After a short break at the dam, you will walk 3.5 km along the Cher to the starting point. You will arrive at the wooden barriers that mark the boundary of a small wooded fitness trail.
(10) Take the path on the right, along the water's edge (blue and yellow markings), rather than theGR® route which branches off. Climb up onto the Azay-sur-Cher bridge to admire the unobstructed view of the Cher, then return to the car park where you started (S/E).

a pleasant, varied walk with varied scenery, not tiring and along the pleasant banks of the Cher
