Between Beg ar Vilh and Sainte-Marguerite

At the entrance to Aber Benoît, this route takes us to the dunes of Sainte-Marguerite in the commune of Landéda. The dunes offer a magnificent setting, which surfers have understood. The depth of the Broennou cove allows for a contrast of colours between the water and the sky, weather permitting.

Description of the walk

Park your car in the car park located just before the Beg ar Vilh jetty.

(S/E) Walk up the Pen ar Creac'h road to the cross and continue a few metres further.

(1) Turn left to join the Kernevez road. Take this road on the right and continue to the Kroaz Anez intersection. Continue straight ahead for about 200 metres.

(2) Turn left into a cul-de-sac and continue along a dirt track. The view of Sainte-Marguerite and the entrance to Aber Benoît is magnificent.

(3) A little further on, turn left at the sign for Sentier de Broennou, which leads to Route de Keriskin.

(4) Turn left onto this road and continue straight on to Prad al Lann. Cross Route de Kerenog and take the path opposite leading to Toull Treaz. This path bends to the right, running alongside Camping des Abers, and ends at the roundabout near the Oasis bar.

(5) After the bar, continue on the left towards Sainte-Marguerite. Then take the first path on the left to reach the surfers' car park near the beaches of Sainte-Marguerite. Join theGR®34.

(6) Follow it to the left towards the mouth of the Aber Benoît. Stay on the path along the coastline.

(7) Continue straight ahead and follow the path that runs along the edge of the Aber to Beg Ar Vilh harbour. Depending on the time of day, stop at the oyster shop. Continue on the GR® trail until you reach a tarmac road at Port du Vrill and walk for about 100 metres.

(8) Turn right onto the path following theGR®34. Continue along the tarmac road, then turn left at the three-way junction. Next, climb the stairs on the left marked with a "viewpoint" sign to reach the car park (S/E).

Worth a visit

Take the time to sit on the sand at Sainte-Marguerite and watch the wind enthusiasts (kite-surfers, wing-surfers, windsurfers) in action.
If time allows, stop off at the Beg Ar Vill oyster shop

The coastal section is very good. Return via the GR 34 to avoid the road section, which is not as good.

Beautiful landscapes and incredibly clear sea. Very happy to have discovered this part of Brittany. The only downside was that between 2 and 3, the path was difficult to walk on because it was overgrown with tall grass that came up to waist height. Fortunately, we didn't have any young children with us.

We completed the entire Sainte Marguerite route (the entire tip).
An excellent, uncrowded route, with clear skies and beautiful colours as a bonus. Take as many photos as you like!
Highly recommended.

A route with beautiful views of Aber Benoît and Ste Marguerite, starting from the car park overlooking the estuary. No need to worry about finding your way between the explanations provided and the map, except after Port du Vrill, once you have passed the oyster farms, as the GR34 is no longer signposted. You have to walk back up the main road for 150 metres to find the GR sign on the wooden electricity poles. Note that at this intersection, you can also continue along the road to reach the car park (it's shorter but a little less safe). I think some sections must be busier in summer.
