This walk starting from Labourse takes you through Parc de la Loisne and past the Beuvry mill, all along good paths and with a touch of town life and a bit of history. In 2008, following archaeological excavations, two sites dating from the Iron Age and the Gallo-Roman period were uncovered.

Description of the walk

Start from the car park opposite the church on Rue Achille Larue.

(S/E) Leave the car park, turn left and follow the street to the Les Héliantines care home.

(1) Cross the street and turn right. At the end, turn right again onto Rue Honneur et Patrie, then first turn right then left to reach the pond in Parc Léo Lagrange.

(2) Turn left and walk round the pond, then take the second path on the left. Cross Rue Jules Ferry and continue straight ahead onto Rue du Stade.

(3) Turn left to follow the Loisne, then take the first path on the left. Pass under the power lines, turn right to go round the pond and continue straight on.

(4) First turn left then right as you cross Rue du Marais and continue straight on to follow the edge of the wooded area. Make a wide right-hand bend, reach a junction at the tip of a long, narrow pond and turn left. Continue straight on until you reach a crossroads near the finish line.

(5) Turn left, go round the pond on the right and follow the bank back up to a junction.

(6) Head right, go round another pond on the left and cross the Parc de la Loisne. Pass the tennis courts, leave the car park on your right and rejoin Rue du Marais.

(7) Turn left, keep left at the junction to follow Rue Octave Presse and continue to the houses. Just before them, turn right towards the solar panel park.

(8) Go straight on at the Fork in the road, then take the first path on the right. At the end, turn right, cross a road, then take the first turn left then right to reach Rue Oscar Desuert. Turn right and continue to Parc du Chevalement de la Fosse 6

(9) First turn right then left and cross the park to reach Rue Pierre Mendès France. Keep going in the same direction to reach Rue Jean Jaurès.

(10) Cross at the pedestrian crossing, continue along the path opposite which cuts across a street and then runs between the housing estates until it meets Rue Charles Hernu.

(11) Turn right, then right again at the nursery school.

(1) Follow the path you took on the way there and return to the starting point (S/E).

This hike across fields will take you through the villages of Barlin and Houchin. On the way back, you will see the ski slope created in 1996 and built on a former slag heap. In the4th century, Noeux was called Vitris. The village was destroyed by the Normans in 882. The main activities at that time were agriculture, milling, sugar refining and brewing. Mining began in 1850. The last mine was closed in 1968.

Bien sûr, ce ne sont pas les plus hauts terrils de la région, mais les deux terrils de Verquin sont restés très sauvages et, sur celui de Labourse, il y a assez d'espace et de sentiers pour varier l'itinéraire. Ce parcours en 8 peut facilement être scindé en deux boucles de 6 à 8 km. C'est un parcours assez compliqué que j'ai détaillé au maximum. Néanmoins, je recommande d'utiliser l'application surtout sur les terrils : celui de Labourse possède un grand nombre de sentiers et on peut facilement modifier le parcours.

Semi-urban route. After a stroll through the fields, you pass by the two slag heaps of Nœux. This hike can be made difficult by bad weather, especially when descending the slag heap on ski trail no. 2, where the stairs are quite impressive. The ascent of slag heap no. 1 is not too difficult and the summit offers a panoramic view of the region. Only the end, in the town, may lack appeal, but the streets in this area are not very busy.
