Through the forest between Herdorf, Biersdorf and Niederdreisbach

Start: Herdorf cemetery,Friedhofstraße

(S/E) We start at the car park at the cemetery in Herdorf and followFriedhofstraßeto BiersdorferStraße. There we turn right. At the end ofthepavedroad, we continue straight ahead and walk uphill into the forest. At the first fork, we keep left and at the next fork, we turn right.

(1) We arrive at the Hellerhöhenweg and follow the signs to the left. We follow the path to the right and soon reach the Kohlenberg.

(2) Go straight ahead at the next crossroads, then turn right and then right twice. This means that you are no longer following the signs for the Hellerhöhenweg. Go straight ahead at the next crossroads and then downhill. Keep right at the next fork.

(3) We reach a crossroads and turn sharp left, then take the second right. We follow the path downhill and are now very close to Biersdorf.

(4) Suddenly, alargeconcrete wall rises up next to us. These may be the remains of the former Füsseberg mine. Almost at the edge of the village, our path forks and we keep to the right and go uphill. Our path curves to the left, then we turn left.

(5) At the next crossroads, the path forks to the right. We follow the left fork for about 500 metres.

(6) Then we follow our path to the left, now heading towards Niederdreisbach. After about 800 m, we turn right and reach the Hellerhöhenweg again. This is also the location of the former Kreuzeiche oak tree, which has since been felled.

(7) Follow the signs straight ahead, the path leads uphill.

(8) At the top, there is a mission cross on the right-hand side. Here, we leave the Hellerhöhenweg signs and turn left. We follow the path down to the barrier and turn left behind it onto Asterweg, which takes us back to our starting point (S/E).

The hike mainly follows wide forest paths, so if it is dry, you can do the tour with simple sports shoes.
