The departure point is at Col du Sattel, which you reach by taking the Route du Gaschney from Muhlbach-sur-Munster, then turning right at a bend onto a forest road towards Col du Sattel and the "Joie de vivre" centre. Park at the pass.
(S/E) Head south and pass the First World War memorial on your left.
(1) At the crossroads, take the wide path marked with a blue disc, which climbs up to your right into the forest.
(2) After crossing a path coming from your right, ignore the one that continues to the left and continue following the blue disc markings, heading to the right.
(3) Pass in front of a house at the Wida Fountain and continue along the path. Walk along a meadow on your left and you will reach a three-way junction.
(4) Take the right fork and follow the path marked with blue discs until you reach the RD310.
(5) Continue climbing the road to Gaschney. Pass the car park on your right and continue to the three-way junction.
(6) Leave the Gaschney farmhouse inn on your left and take the path marked with a red triangle on the right towards the Schallern hotel and restaurant, which you will reach after a slightly stony climb through the forest.
(7) From the hotel-restaurant, retrace your steps back to Gaschney.
(6) Go straight ahead, then turn left to cross the car park you saw on the way there, and take the path marked with a red rectangle crossed out in white, straight ahead, towards the Col du Sattel. Pass the Chasseurs de Gaschney monument in the field on your left, reach an intersection, and continue to the right. You will soon reach a three-way junction.
(8) Turn left, passing the Germania military cemetery on your left. From there, continue along the path marked with a red rectangle crossed with white and red, until you reach Col du Sattel (S/E).
