Choosing this short route will take you through some magnificent scenery. Lago Nero is well worth a visit. However, this route is technically challenging with steep scree slopes: best tackled in dry, fine weather.

Description of the walk

(S) From the refuge, head west up the Vallon del Pis towards the Col d'Armoine.

(1) Just before the pass, continue in the same direction towards the Col de Manzol.

(2) At the Col de Manzol, head down towards Lago Nero.

(3) At the junction, head down to the left to quickly reach the magnificent Lago Nero.

(4) Retrace your steps.

(3) Turn left and continue descending westwards.

(5) At another junction, head left to reach Lago Lungo; otherwise, head right to the Granero Refuge (E).
