A route allowing you to explore the area around Le Magny

Park in the car park by the village hall in Le Magny.

(S/E) Head towards the village centre, to the east (blue signposts).

(1) When you reach the priory, enter the courtyard to admire the various buildings – some of which have been restored – then head out to visit Saint-Michel Church.
Head down towards the D73, walking alongside the cemetery, cross the road and take the steps leading to the Saint-Rémy fountain.

(2) Head south along the small road that passes in front of the fountain, then continue straight on. At the hamlet of Le Mont, turn left towards the Ossans rest area (blue and white-and-red markings for^{the GR®46}).

(3) At the wash house, carry on straight ahead, leaving the^GR® and the blue markings on your right.
Cross a footbridge over the Couarde and continue through a poplar grove.

(4) At the junction, take the path on the left leading up towards Beauregard. After passing through the hamlet, cross the road and continue straight ahead (slightly to the left) along the path leading to the gardens: you will then find yourself amongst old vineyards and vineyard huts.

(5) Once you reach the information board, turn left and cross the plateau until, at an old vineyard hut, you rejoin the previous path, which you follow downhill to cross through Beauregard once more and retrace your steps.

(4) Turn left onto the path running alongside the Couarde and winding through the neighbouring meadows (in the opposite direction to the yellow markings). When you reach a junction, carry on straight ahead (south) for 50 metres.

(6) Take the path leading uphill to the left (old green markings, opposite to the yellow ones). Turn left at the next junction, towards the hamlet of La Loge.
Carry on straight ahead along a grassy track, then take the road opposite for about 200 metres.

(7) Turn right onto the small road towards the village of Rivarennes and carry on straight ahead southwards for about 700 metres.

(8) On the descent, turn right onto a path: from there, simply follow the red and white markings of^{the GR®46}. Continue straight on at the various crossroads until you reach a small road serving two houses.

(9) Turn left at a right angle to follow the^GR® (in the opposite direction to the blue markings), walk alongside a pond, go down to a footbridge crossing the Couarde and walk back up to reach another junction (elevation 239). Continue straight on along the^GR® 46, which will take you back to the wash house.

(3) Carry on straight ahead. At the Fork in the road, which is about fifty metres before the Saint-Rémy fountain, turn left, cross the D73 again to reach the priory and then the car park where you started (S/E).

No water points apart from at Le Magny.
Make sure you wear waterproof shoes as there are wet areas along the banks of the Couarde.
