Description of the walk

Park in the Lac de Servières car park.

(S/E) Follow the wide track to the shore of Lac de Servières.

(1) Go round the north side by taking the path on the left, quickly join theGR®30and walk round the lake. Ignore the junction with the path leading up to Puy de Combe Perret along the pastures and through the forest. Join the GR®30 again three-quarters of the way round the lake on your left to climb through the forest to the Puy, following the red and white markings.

(2) Climb to the Puy de Combe Perret through the forest, cross a meadow, then continue climbing through the forest. Reach the summit of the Puy de Combe Perret via a steep slope.

(3) Continue southwards following theGR®30to the path junction below Puy de l'Ouire.

(4) Climb Puy de l'Ouire by taking the path opposite.

(5) Return to the previous junction.

(4) Turn right back onto theGR®®30, initially skirting the forest, then entering the woods again to reach the Col de Guéry.

(6) Turn left and walk to the shore of Lac de Guéry and back.

(7) Return to the previous junction.

(6) On your return, turn left onto the wide track, leave theGR®®30here and you’ll soon reach a Y-junction.

(8) Take the left-hand branch, stay in the forest and, at the edge, you’ll find a new three-way junction.

(9) Continue straight ahead across the large mountain pasture and along a gently ascending path to reach another junction just before the Ferme du Puy May.

(10) Keep left and you’ll easily reach this farm.

(11) Continue westwards to reach the Col Saint-Laurent junction.

(12) Turn left onto the path for a return trip, using the wooden steps to reach the Banne d'Ordanche.

(13) Return to Col Saint-Laurent via the same route.

(12) On your return, head straight ahead and take the almost straight path that leads to the Borne des Quatre Seigneurs.

(14) Continue straight on to reach the summit of Puy Loup.

(15) Now turn right onto an easy descent that takes you back to the crossroads you passed on the way out, the one before the Ferme de Puy May.

(10) Turn left to retrace your steps and return to the junction where the two tracks meet.

(9) Leave the route you have already taken and take the track on the left. You will reach a junction with several directions, including the nature trail.

(16) Take this path on the left, leave it after a few metres to take a shortcut on the right. Join the discovery trail shortly afterwards and follow it to the Col de Guéry.

(6) Then retrace your steps along the route you took on the way out; do not climb up to the Puy de l’Ouire, but continue along theGR®®30, following the red and white markings, to return to the Lac de Servières car park (S/E).

A lovely walk featuring two pretty little lakes, mountain pastures and superb views.
Suitable for experienced walkers, though, as it is quite a long hike. That said, the route isn’t particularly technical and the paths are well-defined.
For an average hiker, allow 6 hours of walking at a leisurely pace, plus breaks depending on your fitness level.
Personally, I had a picnic halfway along the route on the hilltop and it was perfect!

A lovely walk with stunning views of the mountain pastures, the valleys and, above all, the lakes, which are surrounded (right up to the water’s edge) by pine forests where you can sit and relax.
