From Lac de Servières to Puy de l'Ouire

Access via the D983. Park in the car park at Lac de Servières.

(S/E) Take the gravel path towards the lake and follow it until you reach the intersection with the GR®30 (red and white markings).

(1) Follow it to the right, it gets closer to the lake. Then walk along the shore for about a hundred metres.

(2) Be careful not to follow the path that continues around the lake: turn right onto the GR®. Climb, sometimes quite steeply, on this recent (2025) and not always very well-trodden path. Views of the lake are rare between the trees. Finally , you will reach a plateau (Puy de Combe Perret).

(3). Continue straight ahead, between forest and meadows. Pass below Puy de l'Aiguiller.

(4) A quick detour to the summit of Puy de l'Aiguiller offers a beautiful view. Then continue on the GR® until you reach the intersection with a path marked Col de l'Ouire.

(5) Go over the stile, leave the GR® which branches off to the left towards the Col du Guéry, and climb straight up to the summit of Puy de l'Ouire, following a fairly steep path.

(6) There is a beautiful view from the top of the hill, and you can descend a little on the other slopes to get a better view of the Roches Tuilière and Sanadoire and the Lac du Guéry.
Return by following the same route you took on the way up until you reach the shore of Lac de Servières.

(2) Then follow the path around the lake to the right and join the gravel path leading to the car park.

(1) Follow it to return to the car park (S/E).

Moderate difficulty hike, standard hiking equipment required.

The climb to the summit of Puy de l'Ouire cannot be made if the meadows are occupied by cows. Personally, I have never seen any herds there.

Be careful in snowy conditions: the wind accumulates snow on the ridge, creating dangerous snowdrifts.
