On leaving Prats-de-mollo, after the bridge over the River Tech, turn right towards La Preste. Just as you enter the hamlet, when the road splits, turn sharp right towards Las Conques. Just before you reach Las Conques on the left, go straight on towards Les Forquets. Outside the summer period (July-August), go past the car park and the barrier to continue along the track for 1.5 km, where you will see wooden posts and a sign on your left. Park in this fairly wide area, without obstructing access to the pass.
Yellow markings on small wooden posts
(S/E) Climb steeply along the PR® heading north. Small wooden posts painted Yellow help you along.
(1) Pass a watering hole (dry June 2025), continue the steep climb due north and come out on a track suitable for vehicles.
(2) Cross it and cross the erosion control structure to climb steeply due north to reach Coll de Bise.
(3) Directional posts. Turn due west and climb steeply along a rocky path and find the track again in a bend to the left.
(4) Leave the track and find the continuation of the bad path opposite, and climb again along this ridge. Beautiful scenery. Heading north-west, descend to a flat area at Coll de les Molles (alt. 2085 m). Important: if patous are present, descend to the left on the track.
=> If necessary, there is a spring and the hut (occupied by the shepherd in summer) on the right, about 100 m further on.
(5) If not, continue straight ahead and look out for these small wooden posts, which you should follow in a north-westerly direction. Cross the track again and join it higher up.
(6) Go left, due west, on this track until you reach the right-hand bend.
(7) Leave the track, continue due west on a stony track and rejoin the track.
(8) Follow the track in the opposite direction, passing a fence and a raised crossing for vehicles, to finally arrive at the Collada de Roques Blanques (marker 2252). Vast panoramic views as far as the eye can see and a stone table and benches on the right.
Unmarked except in bad weather.
(9) Directional posts. In fog, rain or snow, go right along the GRP® towards Pla Guillem - Marialles.
Climb north-north-east above the table and benches (a few cairns). You will soon come to an area of white rock (special feature on the right). Follow an old fence, heading north-east. When the fence comes up against the rocks, turn right and find a well-marked path(a few cairns) that makes it easier to climb and leads to a less steep area. Turn right, due east, towards a summit. Reach the end of the ridge where there is an enormous circular pile of stones and pebbles (a vast viewpoint).
(10) Go left, north-north-east along the ridge towards a large cairn. The true summit of Puig de Collada Verda is a few metres further on at the geodesic marker (number 2403) (360° panorama).
(11) Do not approach the edge of the ridge, as it slopes steeply to the right. After enjoying the view, continue along the ridge on a path used by animals. After a wide right-hand bend to the east, reach another cairn at 2373.
(12) Change course and head due north at first, following the ridge. Continue slightly uphill until you reach 2293. The Collada del Vent, clearly visible below to the north-east, gives you the direction to follow.
(13) Head due east, then north-east to reach the Collada del Vent at 2229 (this name reflects the weather conditions often encountered at this pass). Vast panoramic views as far as the eye can see, with a stone table and benches opposite.
Unmarked except in bad weather.
(14) Directional posts. In fog, rain or snow, take the GRP® towards Pla Guillem - Marialles. *
Climb north-east, passing to the right of the stone table. Follow an old fence and reach a summit at 2299.
(15) Continue north-east, climbing very slightly and leaving the summit on the right (Cim dels Cums). Beware of the rocky bars. Do not approach.
(16) Turn due north at a safe distance from the Cingle dels Pelegrins gap. Find a well-marked path around this cirque, then head north-east to reach the GRT83 and a large, well-constructed cairn (a remarkable point in case of doubt) at an altitude of 2290 m.
White and red GRT83markings.
(17) It is possible to go left, north-west as far as the large five-way crossroads at Pla Guillem.
(18) Directional post (great place for a lunch break).
Make a U-turn to the remarkable cairn.
(17) Continue straight ahead along the GRT83, almost flat in this vast high-altitude pasture. Raised stones and markings help you along. Then descend steeply along a stony track and, in the open, reach a fork in the road at 1958.
Yellow and red GRP® Tour du Canigoumarkings
(19) Directional posts. Leave the GRT83. Be careful: turn completely right along a very good path that is well marked on the ground. Much further on, you'll come to the Cabane des Cums, where I've arranged for the door to be locked wide open. Special thanks to the people who came before me, who even made a fire inside without a chimney or wood-burning stove!
(20) Continue uphill to the right along a path that becomes very rough. After a series of ascents and descents, you come to a fork in the road! Strange place!
(21) Signpost. Descend steeply to the left. After another series of ascents and descents, reach the edge of the forest and the Coll de Les Basses (alt. 1785 m). Large grazing area. Viewpoint.
(22) Drinking trough, further up on the right, two orientation tables on the left (sign: panorama) at 1796 m.
Descend this rough track with some very fine viewpoints to reach the parking area at La Togne (S/E).
