From Saint-Louis, head towards Les Makes, then La Fenêtre. Park at the Plateau de Montplaisir picnic area.
(S/E) Continue up this road, heading south-east then north-west after a hairpin bend. Pass Makes Aventure then.
(1) About a hundred metres further on, turn left onto Route Forestière 58 de la Scierie et des Hauts des Makes.
(2) Take the first path on the right, called Sentier des Contreforts de la Scierie. The climb is steep and slippery in places but offers beautiful panoramic views. At the end of the climb, the path enters a cryptomeria forest and crosses the area known as Les Fleurs Jaunes.
(3) At the next intersection, turn right.
(4) Then cross the forest road to take the path that continues opposite.
Follow the path to La Fenêtre. From there, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of the Cirque de Cilaos. Take the path that winds its way near the antenna. The descent is short and steep but offers beautiful panoramic views.
The path leads to a viewpoint over the Cirque de Cilaos. This will be the last one!
(5) When you reach the viewpoint, turn right onto the Bras Patate trail.
The path is easy and the slope is gentle.
(6) At the end of the trail, turn right towards the starting point. After about 300 metres, leave the track on the left and take the path on the right to reach the picnic area (S/E).
