This6th and final stage of the Tour du Causse Méjean crosses the desert-like expanses of the Causse before descending into the Gorges de la Jonte to Meyrueis. This short, easy stage can be combined with the5th stage from Mas-Saint-Chely to Drigas for those wishing to shorten the Tour to five days.

Description of the walk

Start at the south-western exit of Drigas, at the junction of the main street with the D63.

GRP® Tour du Causse Méjean signposting (alternative route)

(S) Take the D63 southwards (with your back to Drigas, take the D63 on the left), head slightly downhill and watch out for the crossroads.

(1) Take the path on the right. After a very gentle descent, climb up to Serre Gaoujac, then descend again. Ignore all paths coming from the right or left and keep going straight. After asecond climb, shortly after beginning the descent, watch out for a fork at the start of a left-hand bend.

(2) Take the path on the left, which curves to the right further on. At another Y-junction, keep left, then emerge onto a road at a three-way junction.

(3) Take the road on the left opposite, which continues the path you have been following. Reach the junction with the D18. Cross the road and take the path opposite. Follow this path to reach a junction just before the Croix de la Croisette.

(4) Turn left, pass the cross, and begin the descent heading south. Ignore any paths on the right and, after a series of hairpin bends, reach the road leading to Pauparelle. Continue along the road to the left and look out for the start of a path about 200 m further on, on the right.

(5) Take this path towards Meyrueis until you reach a wide track. Leave it immediately and take a path on the right.

(6) Cross the D986 and, after a few bends, reach the first houses of Meyrueis. On the tarmac, near the Town Hall, turn left onto Chemin du Cagnard, and arrive at Avenue Martel. Turn right, cross the bridge over the Jonte, and turn right to reach the starting point of this six-day tour at the Tourist Office (S/E).
