Parking: in Sewen near the church.
(S/E) Return towards the church, then take the road to Lake Alfeld (follow the blue rectangle markings, i.e. the Gr531) to the right of the bridge, then to the left, following the stream, passing Lake Sewen and an oratory.
(1). Continue and pass Lake Alfeld on your left (starting point for hikes).
(2) Continue following the same markings on the right until you reach the crossroads with signposts. There, turn left onto theGR®®5Red Rectangle to head towards Ballon d'Alsace.
(3) Leave theGR®®5trail and follow the yellow and white rectangle markings on the right. Follow the old French-German border and then join a forest path, where you can admire "the large stone".
(4) Continue along this path to the Baraque de Morteville (open shelter available to hikers).
(5) See information in the introduction.At the intersection, leave this trail and turn left towards the Ballon d'Alsace. Cross the small footbridges.
Turn right onto the Blue Triangle marked path. After 400 m, turn left following the same markings and continue until you reach a forest track at an altitude of 850 m.
(6) Turn left (south-west) onto this track, following the yellow-white-yellow rectangle markings until you reach a sharp right-hand bend in the track.

Turn right at the same markings, climbing towards La Jumenterie. Further on, leave the markings and continue straight ahead until you reach a crossroads.
(8) Follow a track marked with red discs to the left, heading towards Ballon d'Alsace.
(9) When you reach La Jumenterie, continue on and pass the statue of Joan of Arc
(10) Then pass the Virgin of Ballon d'Alsace.
(11). Follow theGR®®5, Rectangle Rouge, and descend to the Ronde Tête (steep path).
(12) Leave the Anneaux Bleus on your left and continue to the intersection of the red crosses, where you take the left-hand path that passes by Rundkopf.
(13) Continue towards Lake Alfeld (the path on the right also descends to the lake via Boedelen).
The descent to Lake Alfeld is a little steep.
(2) Return via the Blue Rectangle of theGR®®531to Sewen (S/E).
