From Saint-Vallier to Beausemblant via the Blacheronde plateau

Park at Place du Champ de Mars in Saint-Vallier.

(S/E) Head north towards the La Galaure river and Rue Mendès France school.
Go around the school on the right using the stairs, then follow the river to the left.
Cross the footbridge over the river and pass by the park entrance on the right.

(1) Continue straight on Rue Ravelin, then north-east towards Rue du Château, Rue Crosse, Place Perthuis and Chemin des Marronniers, running alongside the cemetery. At the corner of the cemetery, turn left. Ignore the street on the right, Impasse des Cèdres. After 100 metres, you will reach the Chemin de la Côte crossroads.

(2) Turn right and go uphill. Follow this road, which is initially uphill and then flattens out towards the top. Before you reach a house on the left and the end of the tarmac section, you will see a path going up to the left. This will be the path you take on your return. Continue to the end of the road, which is also a crossroads of paths.

(3) Ignore the steeply descending path on the right. Walk past the house on the left along the flat path. Further on, the path curves uphill to the left and then straight north. Follow the ridge in a straight line. Almost at the top, ignore a path descending to the right. Reach the edge of the forest and an area of fruit trees with a large rusty pylon.

(4) Follow the edge of the orchard on the right. Reach a road coming from the right and follow it straight ahead. You will come to a right-angled crossroads.

(5) Turn right and then walk along the Montrebut farm on your left. You will arrive opposite the Charbonnière house; go around it on the left. The road then becomes a path. Reach the edge of the forest. Take the path to the right and then almost immediately downhill to the left towards La Combe de Laye.

(6) Descend into the valley and go around the numerous trees felled by the snow in November 2019 on the left. The successive passages begin to visibly trace this detour, which is about a hundred metres long. Then head right and reach the accessible path below. Follow the valley northwards after passing two streams. Reach the meadow, go past the fence and close it properly.
Follow the path uphill to the right for a few hundred metres. At the crossroads, turn right at a right angle along the edge of the fields. Continue until you reach a road and the surrounding wall of Beausemblant Castle.

(7) Cross the road and follow the road opposite, which runs alongside the castle's boundary wall. You will reach the Beausemblant wind turbines. Leave the road on your right and continue to follow the castle wall, then leave it behind and head towards the middle of the meadow.

(8) You will reach a crossroads. Continue straight ahead, passing the wind turbines on your right. At the end of the fields and after the last wind turbine, the path descends to the west on the left. You will arrive in front of a house in Maucune. Follow the road to the left. Ignore the road branching off to the right. You will reach another house. Walk along the left side of it. The road becomes a dirt track, then turns back into a road near another house. After the house, at the crossroads, follow the road downhill opposite and you will come to another crossroads.

(9) Follow the road downhill opposite and after the last houses in Sauzet, the road becomes a downhill track. Pass the buildings on the right and left to reach a new road in the Bas Boresse district.

(10) Turn left. At the next crossroads, turn left onto Route de La Promenade. Follow La Promenade and then Route Du Vivier in a straight line on flat ground. Leave the densely populated residential area behind. Continue along the slightly uphill road. Pass a villa on your right and follow the road at a right angle to the right onto Route Du Vivier. A few hundred metres further on, ignore a road on your left and then a dead end on your right. You will arrive at a road near Château Du Molard.

(11) Follow the road to the left, then almost immediately take another road that climbs steeply to the left. At the edge of the forest, the road becomes an uphill path. Follow the well-marked path to reach the Côte Rousse farm at the edge of the forest. The path turns into a road and crosses the hamlet of La Côte Rousse. The road curves to the right to reach another uphill road.

(12) Take the road uphill to the left. Follow it almost straight uphill and then on flat ground. Ignore a path coming at an acute angle from the right. After this path, take a grassy path that turns sharply to the right. After a large circular descent to the left, the path reaches a meadow and the vicinity of the houses of Combe Blanche and Tauret.

(13) Arrive at a tarmac road and follow it to the left. The road runs alongside houses on the left and then loops around other houses, also on the left. You will come to a crossroads; continue straight ahead. Walk alongside the Creux De Sedan buildings on the left. 300 metres after the buildings, and before reaching other houses in Palayer, you will come to a hairpin bend on the right.

(14) Follow this path downhill to the right. The path then curves to the left and crosses a stream. The path curves downhill to the right and arrives at the crossroads you took on the way there.

(3) Take the road towards the house on the left for 50 metres and take the path on the right, which descends steeply. Follow this path downhill until you reach a road. Take the road to the left. You will arrive at the entrance to the park along the Galaure river. Take the hairpin bend to the right and enter the park, crossing it with the option of taking a final break there. Follow the river to the park exit and you will find yourself back at the first crossroads.

(1) Turn left towards the footbridge and cross it, then retrace your steps to return to the car park at Place du Champ de Mars (S/E).
