The route starts from Place du Gros Billot in Saint-Léger-en-Yvelines

(S/E) With your back to the square, walk up Grande Rue to the church.
(1) After visiting the church, turn back and take Rue de Larridon on the right. After the bend, turn right onto Chemin de la Citerne. At the Y-junction, go up to the left and you will reach a fork at the top of the hill.

(2) Keep going straight ahead, leaving the two forks on the left, to reach the D111.
(3) Cross the road carefully and continue straight ahead. At the end of the path, turn right. Then leave a discreet path on the left and approach a crossroads near a barrier.
(4) Turn left before the barrier, then quickly turn left onto Route Monnereau. Continue straight ahead at the crossroads, start descending and reach a bridge.
(5) Turn right at a right angle just before the bridge. Ignore another path coming from the left, which also leads to a bridge. Ignore another crossroads before keeping left at the Y-junction. Cross a small stream and then climb up to the left. At the crossroads at the top, go straight ahead to the next one, called Carrefour des Sept Chênes.
(6) Continue straight ahead. Descend, then climb again and carefully cross the D138 at Carrefour Montfort.
(7) Continue on the other side on the Route des Sept Chênes. The path then joins the Carrefour Baron. Go straight ahead, then turn right and reach the Carrefour de la Mare Ronde.
(8) Follow the second path on the left. Ignore a fork in the road and continue to Carrefour Belsédène.
(9) Cross the forest road and take the track on the left. At the Carrefour des Maurus junction, go straight ahead and, at the end of the plateau, turn left. The IGN maps are out of date at this point: to follow the GR®1, follow the route and description provided. Then, pass a path on the right before taking the next one and turning left towards the Étang de la Porte Baudet (or des Maurus) lake.
(10) Walk along the lake and then turn right. Continue quickly uphill on the left. At the junction with Route du Haut Cornu, go straight ahead to reach a car park.
(11) Continue along a small road before turning completely left at the bend onto a path. Then walk along the woods, turning right. At the next junction, turn right again before arriving at Rue Bertrand du Guesclin.
(12) Cross the street and follow Rue de Château-Gaillard to the left. Continue along this street, keeping to the right. At the bottom, turn right onto Rue de Sancé, then turn left to stay on the same street until you reach Ruelle Boutet.
(13) Follow this street to the left, which climbs up some steps towards the castle. At the crossroads, keep to the right and then go down Rue Maurice Ravel. You will arrive at the start of the climb up to the castle.

(14) Turn left, then quickly turn right. At the crossroads, go up to the left, then straight ahead before keeping to the right. Go straight ahead again, then left to reach the castle ruins and the viewpoint.
(15) Descend to Rue Maurice Ravel via the same route.

(14) Go up Rue Saint-Laurent on the left. Take the first stairs on the right before continuing straight on Rue de la Croix Buisée to the cemetery. At the corner of the cemetery, turn left onto Ruelle du Moulin. Stay on the same path until you reach the D155 at the end.
(16) Turn right. At the crossroads, turn left onto Avenue du Général de Gaulle. Then take the first right onto Rue François Quesnay. Continue straight ahead until you can't go any further, arriving at Rue Léopold Bellan.
(17) Turn left onto this street, then keep right onto Rue Bocquet. Continue straight ahead until the street becomes a farm track. You will reach a fork near some buildings.
(18) Continue straight ahead. At the crossroads, keep left, then turn right onto a road.
(19) Follow this road to the left, then turn sharply right at the main road and continue to a roundabout.
(20) Take the first exit, then cross the road carefully and take the first path on the left. Cross the railway line at the level crossing and you will reach the first houses of Neauphle-le-Vieux.
(21) Go straight ahead, cross the Ruisseau du Leutel stream, and stay on the same road, which makes a first turn right then a second turn left. At the end of the road, you will reach Rue de Versailles.
(22) Follow this road to the right. Cross the Mauldre river before turning onto the first road on the left, Rue Charles de Gaulle. You will reach Route de Beynes at the end.
(23) Here too, cross the road carefully and head towards the railway line.
No signposts
Cross the level crossing and go down Rue de la Gare on the right until you reach Villiers-Neauphle-Pontcartrain SNCF station (E).
