From Villeneuve-Minervois, take the RD112 towards Cabrespine. After the northern exit of the village, turn left onto the RD 12 towards Trassanel and the Limousis Cave. Go through the village of Trassanel and keep going north on the paved road. At the end of the concrete road, turn right onto the gravel track and park in a large space in the second hairpin bend.
(S/E) Take the horizontal track towards the west, ignore the first track on the left and the second track on the right, and arrive at a new intersection of tracks.
(1) The track on the right will be the way back. Continue straight ahead. Ignore the tracks that branch off to the left and stay on the main gravel track. The track changes to a grassy surface and you will come to an intersection with another grassy track.
(2) Turn right at a 90° angle, then left at a 90° angle after a few metres. Continue westward and, at the bend, turn right towards the north-west, continue for a few metres and look for a cairn and yellow circles on the rocks on the right.
(3) A vaguepath branches off to the right, heading east then north-east. We cleared it at the end of 2024 during several sessions of searching, pruning and marking with cairns and yellow paint circles. ( In June 2025, I found it somewhat difficult to follow this path and returned to improve the pruning and marking). After about 400 m through broom and holm oaks, you will reach a rocky platform.
(4) We named this rocky area (the only one on the route) "Le Mirador" because it offers a beautiful view of the northern part of the sector. This is followed by a descent (the path is sometimes poorly marked) down the mountainside (Foun Jon) which leads to the Ruisseau de la Grave, a stream with a good flow.
(5) You have to cross the stream three times and step over a large fallen tree to reach the junction with a path coming from the right.
(6) Follow this better marked trail, which runs alongside the tributary of the Ruisseau de La Grave for about 400 m of horizontal progress.
(7) Cross the Ruisseau de Montredon to take a small steep path. The trail continues along the mountainside and climbs gradually towards the hamlet of Montredon.
(8) At the hamlet, there are two exceptionally large chestnut trees. After this ruined hamlet, the almost horizontal trail suddenly descends quite steeply to cross the Roquo Négro stream and climb up the other side to return to the intersection passed at the start of the hike.
(1) Take the track in the opposite direction to return to the car (S/E).
