The car park is located on Rue de la Voie Verte.
(S/E) Leave the car park, taking the Chemin de la Voie Verte, heading south-west. The path soon runs alongside the Brenne, which forms two branches on either side of the path at this point. The route follows theGR®655West, which is one of the routes to Santiago de Compostela in Touraine.
(1) When you reach a path, turn right and follow it. As you approach the first buildings in Chancay, it becomes Rue de l’Aube. At the end of this street, turn left carefully onto Rue de la Mairie (D46), then, about thirty metres further on, turn right onto Rue Saint Vincent. After about 250 metres, turn left onto Rue de la Garenne, which climbs the Coteau on a steep incline.
(2) At the end of the street, at a T-junction, turn left onto the farm track, which is almost flat and runs between plots of vines, heading west. Follow it to a small road that climbs up the hillside from Les Grandes Bastes. Turn right to finish the climb up to the plateau, then turn left onto the first track between two plots of vines. Follow this track as it heads westwards to the north of the hamlet of La Vallée, at a place called Les Vaux, where it joins Rue du Château de Vaux.
(3) At the crossroads, take the road on the right heading westwards uphill, which passes in front of the Vaux estate. After briefly crossing a plateau covered in vineyards, the path descends towards the Vallée de Cousse. Upon reaching it, the path becomes Rue du Haut Cousse.
(4) At the first junction, turn right at a sharp angle onto a short lane that quickly joins Rue Jean Jaurès. Upon reaching it, turn left to follow this gently sloping street. At the next junction, turn right onto Rue du Moulin de Courtemanche. As you cross the Cousse, you will see the wash house on the left, by the riverbank. Further on, cross Rue du Bas Cousse with care, and continue straight on into Rue de la Bataillerie.
(5) Turn left onto the first path heading south, between two properties, before walking slightly uphill through vineyards and reaching the remains of a woodland on the plateau. The path joins the end of a road. Continue straight on, skirting a small wood on your right and vineyards on your left, to descend towards Vaugondy. Just as the path stops running alongside the wood, turn right onto the downhill path which joins Rue du Val de Vaugondy.
(6) Turn left, leaving theGR®655West, and head east. At the next junction, about 150 metres on, continue left towards the north-east. After about 100 metres, turn right into the cul-de-sac lined with buildings on the left. Shortly after a farm track on the right, turn right onto a path that goes round a vegetable garden on the left. Follow the path, alongside an intermittent stream on the right, and pass below a small wood on the left. Follow the track until it joins a small road at a place called Les Petites Batteries. Turn left onto the small road known as Rue du Bois Soulage. Continue towards Pouvray until you see a track on the left that climbs into a wood. Take this track and continue until it joins a small road.
(7) Turn right and follow the road carefully southwards. The road soon runs alongside the grounds of Château de Pouvray. Turn left onto the small Route de la Folie, at the intermittent stream. Follow it carefully until you reach the D46 road.
(8) Turn right and proceed for about forty metres with great care before turning left onto a path heading north-east, running parallel to the railway line. Shortly afterwards, at a small patch of woodland, the path veers away from the railway line and heads towards the hamlet of Launay, passing an industrial estate on the left.
(9) Turn right onto Route du Moulin de Bacchus (dead end). Continue along the path that follows it, and cross the Brenne ford via a bridge on the left-hand side. At the T-junction with a farm track a little further on, turn left. The path known as Chemin de la Quintaine crosses the Grande Prairie, where there are small ponds on the left, then a larger one on the right.
Follow the Chemin de la Quintaine to the Route des Anciens d’Afrique du Nord. There, turn left and follow this road with care for about a hundred metres, before turning left again into Rue de la Voie Verte to return to the car park. (S/E)
