Description of the walk

The starting point is in the Trèves basin, in the commune of Chichilianne, in the hamlet of La Richardière.
Park in the car park after the inn.

(S/E) Leave the car park just after the "Gai soleil du Mont Aiguille" and continue along the small road that leads to the bottom of the valley (due west). Ignore the path that branches off to the right towards Mont Aiguille. Follow the wide track until you come to a sign for "Le Fayard" fixed to a tree and, opposite, the sign for "Au Fayard - 1080m".

(1) At this point, descend to the left into the very stony bed of the stream and cross it. This is the first ford. (If there is a lot of water, there is a footbridge a little further upstream).
Very quickly, you will come to a fork. Take the less well-marked path on the right. It first runs alongside the stream bed before turning left towards the rock face.

(2) You will come to a second fork. Take the right-hand path and very soon turn right again (signposted "La Rimas - 1150m"). You will cross several stony riverbeds flowing down from the mountain. Your path will make a hairpin bend to the right.

(3) Almost immediately, you will cross the second ford to climb up the opposite side (north-east).

(4) Quite quickly, you will reach a large clearing. You will find two monuments paying tribute to the Vercors resistance fighters.

You return by descending to the right along the wide stony path which, running alongside the stream, takes you directly back to your starting point (S/E).

Notes

Please note!
- This walk is only accessible on foot, without snowshoes, once the snow has melted.
- There are two fords to cross. Do not attempt this route during snowmelt or after a heavy storm.
Ultimately... this is a walk best done in summer, when the weather is fine.

Given the rocky terrain, be sure to wear good walking shoes.

Near the car park at the start of the walk, there is a very "retro" and very friendly inn.

In the village of Clelles, there is a cheese shop and a grocery store.

Worth a visit

Beautiful views of the stunning Mont Aiguille and the "Tête Chevalière".
The peaceful Bois des Granges.
The monument in memory of the Vercors resistance fighters.
The pretty village of Mens, capital of the Trièves region.
... are all within easy reach.

A very pleasant, easy walk starting from the inn, partly in the snow, but without snowshoes as the snow was hard. Beautiful views on this sunny day.

It is a pleasant and fairly easy hike, and the description is perfect, except that between points 2 and 3 it says that you cross "two stony beds that descend from the mountain". However, when I did this hike, we crossed about eight rocky riverbeds (probably recently formed, if there were violent storms this summer?), some of which were not that easy to cross (going down and back up). It might therefore be a good idea to correct this point and specify that good footwear is necessary.
Thank you for this hike!

N.B. There is no need to cross thefirst ford (lots of water) as a footbridge has been built next to it.
So, at the point (1): continue along the main path for 150 metres and take the footbridge.
