The walk starts from the car park on Route de Saint-Mesmin, north of the Pont Saint-Nicolas, in Saint-Pryvé-Saint-Mesmin.
(Start/End) Turn left onto the Route de Saint-Mesmin, then take Rue Claude Joliot, which runs between two houses on the right-hand side as the road curves towards the Pont Saint-Nicolas. Follow this street, signposted as a dead end, heading north-west.
(1) Turn onto the dirt track on the left just before the Carmel de Micy and the Abbey. This track leads to the embankment designed to contain the Loire’s floodwaters; follow it south-west until you reach the first junction with a track on the right, where there is a car park.
(2) Take the track on the right until you reach the path leading to Pointe de Courpain, which you should follow to the left, keeping as close as possible to the bank of the Loire.
(3) At Pointe de Courpain, return along the path in the opposite direction. Ignore the track leading to the car park and the embankment you took on the way there, and continue as close as possible to the river. Pass the hamlet known as ‘la Rochelle’.
(4) Turn onto the path on the right at the hamlet of Montauban. The path runs alongside pastures used for horses before reaching the embankment, which you’ll take to the left. Pass the first hamlet, ‘les Champs Neufs’.
(5) Turn into the road leading to the right towards ‘La Tuilerie Neuve’. Continue along this road until you reach a T-junction with Rue de la Cartaudière.
(6) Turn right onto this street. At the Cartaudière crossroads, turn left onto Rue Roger Secrétain until you reach the junction with the D951 (take care), the Route de Saint-Mesmin.
(7) Turn left onto this road, then turn right onto Rue des Déportés; leave this street and follow Rue des Tacreniers to the right, which leads to the Moulin des Tacreniers on the River Loiret.
(8) Take the Sentier des Prés on the right and follow it as close as possible to the Loiret. This path turns right until it meets Rue de Saint-Santin, which you should take to the left.
(9) Follow Rue de Saint-Santin, which gradually approaches the banks of the Loiret, until you reach the car park (S/E).
