Start at the car park near the Mareau-aux-Prés market hall, visible from the D951, Rue Saint Fiacre.
(S/E) From the market hall, head down Rue du Stade, turning your back on the main road. Pass the stadium and then take Rue des Garennes on the right.
(1) Turn right at the junction with Rue de Bedelle.
(2) At the junction, turn left onto Rue Neuve. Cross the Petit Ardoux stream after the last houses in Montaillard. Turn right onto the first track, then left when you reach a crossroad.
(3) Leave the tarmac after about 300 m and take a path heading north-north-west towards the embankment designed to contain the Loire’s floodwaters, visible from the road. Pass the power lines, turn left onto the side street, then right onto the path leading to the embankment, shortly after the “le Vieux Bourg” sign.

(4) Head left onto the embankment, which offers lovely views of the islands. Shortly after a slight bend to the left, leave the embankment and head down towards the river along a path. This path leads towards the Loire, lined with information boards. Ignore the turn-offs to the left until you reach the sign “ça grenouille dans l’eau!” at a junction marked by two wide, compacted paths converging to the left.
(5) Take one of these paths, turn left onto a cross-path, then immediately right onto a wide path leading to the embankment. Turn right onto the embankment.
(6) Leave the embankment at marker 59D and take a path leading downhill to the left, continuing straight on and following the signposts. Ignore the side paths until you reach Rue de Fosse Longue, a cross-road, onto which you turn left. Pass La Petite Grange, then Le Trépoix, leaving Rue de Meung, a cross-road, behind you.
(7) Leave Rue de la Malanderie just before the hamlet of the same name, turning left onto a path heading towards a wood (follow the signposts). The path initially runs along the edge of the woods before entering them. Keep left at the fork and follow the best-defined path north-eastwards until you reach a cross-road, where you turn right onto Rue de la Perrière.

(8) Shortly after the first houses in La Perrière, turn left at the crossroads (marked by a cross) onto Rue de Bedelle. Pass the first junction with Rue du Gris Meunier, then turn right at the next junction to rejoin Rue du Stade.
(1) Leave the path on the left that you took on the way there to return to the market hall in Mareau-aux-Prés, the starting point of the walk (S/E).
