Start at the car park near the church in Saint-Hilaire-Saint-Mesmin.
(S/E) Take Rue de l'Église on the right to descend towards the Loiret river. At the intersection with the Loiret trail, turn right to follow the river as closely as possible (GR®655East).
(1) Cross the Pie stream via the footbridge and take the path that follows the banks of the Loiret to the Pont Saint-Nicolas bridge. To do this, follow the path leading to a gate south of the bridge. Take the pedestrian crossing, then cross the Route d'Orléans (take care) staying on the left bank of the Loiret to follow Rue des Vaslins just south of the bridge. This street makes a wide right turn. Ignore Impasse de Chaussy on the left and continue to a crossroads.
(2) Continue straight south until you reach the intersection with Route d'Olivet. Take Rue du Haut Midi opposite, slightly to the right, until you reach a crossroads. Then follow Rue des Martinières on the right until you reach the roundabout.
(3) Turn left onto Rue des Mauridets, ignoring the paths on either side. Continue until you reach the intersection with Rue de la Quincaille, where you will turn right.
At the intersection with Rue de la Gobette, turn right, then take the dirt track on the left well before the place called 'la Gobette'. Continue straight ahead until you reach the intersection with Rue des Perrières.
(4) Take Rue des Perrières on the right, then the dirt track on the left before the place called Les Perrières. Ignore the path on the left and continue to the junction with Rue aux Cochons. Take the grassy path that leads into the vegetation directly opposite.
(5) Turn left at the junction with Route des Muids, near Moque-Baril on the right. Ignore the paths on either side until you come to a dirt track just before the hamlet of La Fourrière, where you turn right.
(6) At the intersection with Rue des Quatre Chemins, just after the two houses, turn right to join Route d'Orléans (take care). Cross it and take Rue de Fleury opposite, slightly to the right. Cross the hamlet of Fleury and continue to the intersection with Rue du Pré de la Dame, which you will take on the left.
(7) Chemin du Clos Sainton, which is paved, turns right. Follow it, leaving the dirt track that goes straight ahead. Reach the embankment designed to contain the floods of the Loire and continue to the right until you come to a dirt track leading down to the Loiret on the left.
(8) Take the dirt track, which you will soon leave to take the path along the bank of the Loiret. Follow the river as closely as possible along the Loiret path until you reach Rue de l'Église, which you will take on the right to return to the starting point, near the church (S/E).
