From Château-Gombert or Plan de Cuques, take Chemin de la Grave (La Montade district). Park at the end of the road by a gate and a firebreak track, where there are numerous parking spaces.
(S/E) Turn right at the gate onto Boulevard Anatole France, then left onto Chemin de Mimet. After a few bends and a steep climb, you will arrive at the start of the DFCI firebreak called Chemin de Caban. Follow this track northwards with the Pilon du Roi in your sights. Stay on the highest part and ignore all the paths to the left and right. Pass fire hydrant no. 632.
(1) At the fork after underground tank no. 128, keep left. You will arrive at a place called Caban, a large abandoned house used as a meeting point for hunters. Pass to the left of the house.
(2) At the Y-junction, keep left. The path descends, turns left then right to arrive at a hairpin bend at the bottom of the valley. Turn right onto the path that leads to the Sources des Cauvières.
(3) Visit the site, then turn back. Continue along the uphill track. You will come to a crossroads of tracks and paths (elevation 387).
(4) Continue left on the track, heading south. The track is straight and descends slightly to reach a Y-junction.
(5) Keep to the right and join the next trail on the right.
(6) Turn right, the track descends, turns left into a hollow valley, then alternates between left and right turns to reach a three-way junction (elevation 369).
(7) Continue left, heading south, passing fire hydrant no. 210. The descent then becomes steeper. Pass two hairpin bends to the left and then to the right, and follow the track to the bottom of the valley. Pass through the green gate and arrive at the car park (S/E).
