Park in the visitor car park on Chemin de la Chapelle: coming from Colonzelle, on Avenue de la Gare, turn right at the entrance to the village. Coming from Grignan, after the town hall, turn left onto Avenue de la Gare, then left after the Bistrot de Pays.
(S/E) The walk starts on Chemin de la Chapelle. Pass Saint Barthélémy Chapel and the cemetery, continuing straight ahead.
(1) At the next fork, leave Chemin du Tramway and continue right on Chemin des Rouvières, which quickly becomes a grassy path. Ignore the paths branching off to the right, then turn left onto a wide dirt track. Further on, ignore a path branching off to the left and continue straight ahead. At the T-junction, take Chemin du Tramway on the right, a stony path. You will arrive at a small tarmac road where you will find information point no. 3, "Les Cultures" (The Crops), on the Discovery Trail.
(2) Turn right onto this road. Continue to the stone marker of the TGC (Taulignan-Grignan-Chamaret Railway Company). Leave the tarmac and continue straight ahead on a stony path. You will reach point no. 4 , "Le panorama" (The panorama), on the Discovery Trail, where a sign details the horizon line from Montagne de la Lance to Dentelles de Montmirail.
(3) Follow the trail signs (small wooden signs) to information point no. 5 on the Discovery Trail , "La vie des Murets" (Life in Murets). At the crossroads, continue straight ahead on the grassy path.
(4) At information point no. 6, "La Correspondance", the path passes between two walls, where the Nyons-Pierrelatte railway line used to run overhead. The panels explain the history of these two short-lived lines, with supporting sketches. Continue by going around a large fruit tree plantation on the left. Just after the remains of a railway bridge on a hillock to the left of the path, follow the signs that go down to the right to the edge of the Lez.
(5) Information point no. 7 , "La Ramière", is located in front of the piers of the old railway bridge. Return to the path and continue to the right. There is a very large dead tree on the riverbank. Reach information point no. 8 , "La Forêt".
(6) Continue straight ahead into the forest. Keep left at the next two forks (not visible on the map). Walk alongside and past the Bédarès farm. Ignore the paths branching off to the right and follow the signs for the Sentier Découverte (Discovery Trail) on the Chemin de Bédarès. There is a beautiful view of the old village of Chamaret and its tower on the left.
(7) At the standing stone with the name "Bédarès", turn right. Walk between low walls and truffle fields with a view of the Montagne de la Lance on your right. You will arrive at information point no. 9 , "Construction des Murets". Continue .
(8) A little further on, cross Chemin du Tramway and take Chemin de la Petite Maniette opposite, then immediately left at the TGC stone marker. Pass the ruins of a drystone shelter and walk between the houses.
(9) In front of a gate leading to a property, take the path on the left. Take care on the steep rocky section. When you reach a wide path, take it to the right. At the tarmac road, Chemin de Rochecourbière, go down to the left to the Rochecourbière car park.
(10) In the car park, there is an information point about the Rochecourbière site with a map of the discovery trail. Take Chemin de Rochecourbière again and you will come to the steps leading to the Rochecourbière cave, made famous by Madame de Sévigné, who wrote some of her correspondence there. Continue along Chemin du Tramway.
(11) A little further on, on the left, is information point no. 1 , "Les Autagnes, de l'eau et du vent" (Les Autagnes, water and wind), located opposite an old wind pump. Continue to the D541. Turn right and cross carefully at the pedestrian crossing. Then take Chemin des Autagnes on the left. This path turns at a right angle and climbs up to the ramparts of Grignan Castle. Further up on the right, the Jardin Sévigné offers a fun trail through a plant maze.
(12) Turn left under the ramparts, then descend to the left towards the wash house and Place du Mail. Continue left on Allée du 11 Novembre. You can cross the cemetery to stop at the Chapelle Saint-Vincent. Walk alongside the P2 visitor car park.
(13) Cross the D541 with caution (beware of heavy traffic). Continue straight ahead on Chemin de Belle Vue d'Air. Looking back, you will see several beautiful views of Grignan Castle. Continue along this path to the waste collection centre. In front of it, turn left to quickly rejoin Chemin du Tramway.
(14) Check information point no. 2, "Les Lavandes," before turning right onto this small tarmac road. At the crossroads, take the dirt track opposite. At the next crossroads, go left and then further on to the right, onto dirt tracks.
(15) At the crossroads, take Chemin du Tramway on the left. Follow it until you reach the intersection of the circular.
(1) Return to the car park on Chemin de la Chapelle (S/E), passing in front of the Saint-Barthélémy Chapel, opposite the Chamaret Tower.
