Park in the village, in the car park above Place Bernard Barbier.
(S/E) Leaving the car park, turn left, then left again at the cross to go up Rue de la Côte.
(1) Continue left on the tarmac road that climbs above the village.
(2) At the wooden sign for "Les Crevasses", go down the path on the right. Then, at an intersection not shown on the map, turn left onto the Sentier des Poètes, which leads to the plateau. You will soon be overlooking the crevasses as you walk along a plantation of oak and lavender trees. Please be careful. Take advantage of the gaps in the vegetation to enjoy the view of La Lance, Chantemerle and the Château de Grignan. Continue along the main path which runs alongside an oak grove before entering a wood. Several times, clearings at the edge of the cliff reveal impressive rock faults below and a superb panorama of the valley and the villages of Valaurie and Roussas, then, further away, the Ardèche mountains and the hilltop village of La Garde-Adhémar.
(3) At the end of a straight line, ignore the path that climbs left into the woods and continue right to go around a lavender field, staying at the edge of the plateau. At the end of the lavender field, turn right. Walk along the woods on your left, following a path that passes between thyme plants and thorny broom.
(4) When you come to another lavender field, go around it on the right. (There is a stone building at the top of the field on the left, like a shed). Then enter a beautiful oak grove where lavender plants grow between the trees.
(5) When you leave the oak grove, continue to the right on the wide Chemin de la Colline. At the fork, turn right onto a path in the woods to reach the Route du Plateau.
(6) Turn right onto this road. Cross it to reach a three-way junction formed by two paths that merge into one (from here, the paths are not shown on the IGN map; they are shown on the OSM map). Continue along this path, which re-enters the woods and reaches the edge of the plateau. Continue along the well-marked path. Ignore a path on the left blocked by branches (private). The path runs along the edge of the rocky spur on the west side, offering beautiful views from rocky outcrops. It then curves to the left (there is a rocky area sheltered from the mistral wind in this curve, perfect for a lunch break), still along the edge of the plateau, and continues on the east side, facing the village of Clansayes (whose tower topped by the Virgin Mary can be seen). Join a dotted trail on the map.
(7) Keep to the right. Ignore a path leading off to the left and come out onto the Route du Plateau. Cross it and continue straight ahead on a path marked PR® and VTT10-14.
(8) At the crossroads, turn right onto the wide path marked VTT10-14. Pass in front of a property with a high gate (no. 765) then turn right onto the small tarmac road Chemin du Knoll.
(9) 100 m further on, before a pylon, turn left onto a path between two dry stone walls. At the next T-junction, turn left. Return to the tarmac road Chemin de la Suquée and go up it on the right.
(10) At the "Les Homais" signpost (Mountain Bike Trail 4), turn right. Continue along Chemin de la Farigoule. Walk alongside large lavender fields (Mountain Bike Trail 4-10-14 signposts). Stay on this wide path, ignoring the paths branching off to the right and left. Pass the signpost for "Les Homais 300 m" and continue straight ahead. You will come to a wide clearing (altitude 296).
(11) Turn left to head north into the Bois du Rouvergue forest on a pleasant forest path. At the next junction, continue straight ahead.
(12) At the next junction (altitude 291), turn left. The path descends towards the village of Chantemerle, describing a wide right-hand bend. Join Rue de la Côte, which you followed on the way out.
(2) Follow it to the right for about 150 m.
(1) Leave Rue de la Côte and descend to the village via Chemin des Amandiers opposite. Keep to the right to avoid entering private property. Chemin des Amandiers leads to a stone staircase, then to the D549 road to La Croze. Turn left onto the road, then go down the staircase with a handrail on the right to explore the village, its restored covered wash house, its open-air theatre and its church. Climb above the church via steps carved into the rock, turn right into the street that goes uphill, then left into the Passage du Château. The covered passage leads to a small square with a fountain and wash house. Go down the alleyway that leads to Place Bernard Barbier (fountain, café-restaurant), then head to the car park (S/E).
