Park opposite the town hall, on Place du Lavoir, Route de Grignan.
(S/E) Leaving the car park, turn right in front of the town hall, then left onto Avenue de la Gare. At the next crossroads, turn left onto Chemin de la Chapelle.
(1) Continue straight ahead, passing the Chapelle Saint-Barthélémy on your right and ignoring the entrance to the cemetery on your left. At the next intersection, turn right onto Chemin des Rouvières. Stay on this main road until you reach the first T-junction. Turn left and then left again at the next junction. Continue straight ahead (north).
(2) At the T-junction, turn right onto Chemin du Tramway. At the next T-junction, turn left. Then take thesecond road on the right (elevation 189). Ignore a road on the left and walk along a large car park on the right. A little further on, climb the stairs on the right that lead to the Grotte de Rochecourbière (made famous by Madame de Sévigné, who wrote some of her correspondence there).
(3) Continue along the small road. Cross the D541 carefully using the pedestrian crossing on the right. Turn left and take a grassy path between two low stone walls, running parallel to the road.
(4) At the end of the wall, turn right onto a path that quickly offers a beautiful view of the village and its castle and continue straight ahead. At the foot of the Grignan ramparts, turn left.
(5) After about 100 metres, climb the steps on the right, which lead through a porch into the enclosure wall. At the top, turn right into an alleyway. At the fork that appears immediately, turn left. Go through a large gate and take the steps leading to the Collegiate Church of Saint-Sauveur, where the tomb of Madame de Sévigné is located.
(6) Continue left along the rampart walk through an opening in the wall, climbing a few steps. Continue along this path overlooking the village until you reach the entrance to the Renaissance-style castle (open to visitors all year round). There is a beautiful view of the Lance mountain, the Baronnies Provençales and Mont Ventoux.
(7) Descend via Rue Montant au Château (its name). Ignore Rue du Four on the left and turn left onto the next street, Rue d'Or. Cross Place de Sévigné (statue of the Marquise) on the right, then turn left onto Rue Sous les Remparts (its name). Then go down the stairs on the right leading to a neoclassical wash house. Cross Place du Mail lengthwise. At the end, turn left onto Allée du 11 Novembre and walk past the cemetery.
(8) Cross the D541 again carefully and continue opposite on Chemin de Belle Vue d'Air. Turn around for a beautiful view of the castle. Take thefirst right, Chemin des Grès. Pass in front of a riding centre. At the crossroads, turn right and then cross the D71 carefully. Continue opposite on Route des Marsanches.
(9) Just before a bridge over a ditch, take a faint grassy path on the left and follow the ditch (reeds) on your right (potentially muddy in places). Pass under a high-voltage power line, come out onto a small road and follow it to the left for about 100 metres.
(10) Then take a path on the right. The path soon shows traces of cart wheels carved into the stone slabs here and there. Pass the hamlet of Les Piaunes. At the next crossroads, turn left onto Route de Chantemerle. Continue straight ahead (view of the Tour de Chamaret). At the end, turn left onto Grande Rue and you will soon come to the car park where you started (S/E) on your left.
