From Cheylade to Le Claux and back

This two-day hike, starting from Cheylade, will take you along roads and paths through a wide variety of landscapes.

On the first day, it’s a mountain hike. You’ll explore the Quirous trail, the Limon Plateau and the Puy de Niermont, with a 360° view of the Cantal, Sancy and Cézallier mountains.

On the second day, the focus is on heritage and exploration. This return leg, which is designed to be easier and shorter, will allow you to take your time admiring the Étang de Lascourt, the Pic du Christ with its observation tower, the Lac des Cascades and its waterfalls, as well as the church in Cheylade.

A lovely two-day hike that takes you through all kinds of landscapes (forest, mountains, plains, pastures, water sources, hamlets); apart from the climb up the pine forest, which is very steep, there are no particular difficulties.
I set off at 1 pm from the Col de Serre at point 9 to start the hike, as the car park is a handy place to leave the car. From there, I walked 20 km (stopping to top up my water supply in Cheylade), camped up in the hills and finished the hike the next morning, back at the car by 12 noon. I highly recommend it.
