(S) From the Domaine de l'Épinette campsite, turn right onto the D151 to reach the village of Châtillon. Continue along Rue de l'Épinette until you reach No. 5, a pretty house with a stone entrance.
(1) Turn left onto Rue du Clos Verger (no entry), cross Route de Doucier with caution and climb up the path opposite the fairground to arrive in front of the wash house. Cross Rue du Lavoir and continue straight ahead on Allée du Château, which is slightly overhanging. Continue until you reach Saint-Valère Church. Here you will find the GR®559 signposts on Rue des Fontaines.

(2) Continue along this street, then turn left onto Rue de la Fruitière. Continue until you reach the fork.
(3) Turn right onto Rue du Chaud Blanc, a slightly downhill cul-de-sac. Continue downhill until you reach the crossroads opposite a detached house.
(4) Continue left (north) on the gravel road, which is a no-entry road. The road crosses farmland as it heads northeast. Stay on this road until you reach a small isolated house.
(5) Continue right onto Chemin Combe la Dame, then quickly head northeast to continue on a small paved road. Stay on this road, which runs along the edge of the Bois de Flachet, until you reach the intersection.
(6) Turn right (southeast) and continue in this direction until you reach a fork.
(7) Continue straight ahead and, after a bend, continue south-east. Stay on this road until you reach the Pont de la Saugette.
(8) Cross the Ain river and at the fork, continue on the right-hand lane until you reach the signpost at the intersection with the D27.
(9) Cross this road carefully and continue straight ahead on Rue des Moulins until you reach the stop sign opposite Marigny Church.
(10) Pass between the fountain and the church to continue on Rue de l'Oratoire and turn right at the fork to stay on Rue de l'Oratoire until you reach the signpost at the intersection with Rue des Voituriers.
(11) Keep left towards Belvédère de Fontenu. Stay on Rue des Voituriers until you reach the signpost at the fork.
(12) Turn right to continue on the street, following the signs for Belvédère de Fontenu. Cross the Bief de la Côte and, at the fork, continue right to the southeast. Continue forward and, after a right-hand bend, you will arrive at the edge of the woods at the signpost for Le Châtelet.
(13) Follow the signs for Tour du Lac/Belvédère de Fontenu. Continue uphill towards the northeast. At the top of the hill, the path is blocked by a large rock. Continue to the clearing marked by a roundabout.
(14) Take the path on the right that heads south-east, following the signs for Tour du Lac/Belvédère de Fontenu. Stay on this path that runs alongside the Côte de Chalain, ignoring the side paths, and continue to the Belvédère de Fontenu.
(15) Walk along the secure barrier on your right to admire the view of Lake Chalain at the end of the car park, then continue on the GR®559 trail towards the south-east until you reach the entrance to the village of Fontenu. Walk along Rue de la Chapelle until you reach the stop sign opposite the town hall.
(16) Turn right to continue on Rue de Chalain towards the south-east. Stay on this road until you reach the signpost for "La Charrière" at the intersection with the D90.
(17) Turn right and follow the signs for Belvédère du Lac. Walk along the D90 until you reach the end of the barriers at the entrance to the left-hand bend.
(18) Leave the D90 and head up into the woods on the forest path that runs west until you reach the signpost for "Sur le Château", where you will find the Belvédère du Lac Chalain.
(19) Keep left (south-east) towards Menétrux-en-Joux and descend to the D90.
(20) Cross it carefully and continue straight ahead on the path that climbs into the Bois de Chatenaillot. Ignore the side paths and continue to an isolated house at the edge of the woods.
(21) Continue along Chemin de la Barelle to reach the D39 at the entrance to Songeson.
(22) Turn left to head south-east. Continue through the village until you reach the Church of Saint-Georges de Songeson.
(23) Continue on the D39 and drive to the fork upstream from a bar and in front of a house completely covered in vegetation.
(24) Turn right onto Rue des Auges. Continue south-west to leave the village. Continue to the crossroads (elevation 591).
(25) Ignore the PR® trail that branches off to the right and continue on the GR®559 trail that climbs south-east. Continue to the top of the hill at the intersection with a PR® trail.
(26) Continue straight ahead on the forest path that descends into the Le Juret woods, heading south. Continue to the crossroads.
(27) Continue straight ahead (south-east) until you reach the intersection with a PR®.
(28) Continue straight ahead towards Menétrux-en-Joux and walk south-east until you reach the D39 (bench at the foot of a tree).
(29) Turn right to enter the village of Menétrux-en-Joux and walk along the D39 to the Chapelle Saint-Joseph.
(30) Take the small street below the D39. Continue on Rue des Cascades, then turn right at the first intersection to continue on Chemin des Cascades until you reach the crossroads.
(31) Turn left and begin a steep descent to the D326.
(32) Turn right to temporarily leave the GR®559 and continue to the entrance of the Relais de l'Éventail - Camping du Hérisson (E).
