We spent the night at the Hotel Le Clos (very welcoming hotel with a swimming pool and excellent breakfast). The hike starts from the hotel car park.
(S) Head towards the Ecomuseum, then take theGR®30on the right (white and red markings).
(1) At the end of the path, take the road on the left, continuing to follow theGR®30.
(2) At the last houses in the hamlet of Leylavaux, turn right onto theGR® towards Courbanges. At the intersection, continue straight ahead along the pond, then turn left before a field (there were Salers cattle there when we passed). Walk along another pond and continue to a fork in the road (elevation 1210).
(3) Continue straight ahead until you reach a large crossroads with a forest path (Chemin de Vanzoux).
(4) Cross the lane and continue straight ahead. Turn right onto theGR® and descend to Courbanges.
(5) When you reach Courbanges, cross the main road and pass in front of a stopover lodge. On the descent, take a small path opposite.
At the end of the path, take the road on the right towards Murol.
(6) At the bridge, take Murol on the left (you will pass in front of the La Ribeyre campsite).
(7) Take the road on the right, then quickly take a path on the left, which is quite steep!
(8) Turn right towards Murol, then take the road on the left towards Lac Chambon (followthe GR® on the right before the lake (alternative route possible for those who want to go along the lake). At the end of the path, turn right.
(9) When you reach the Murol road, turn right and follow the road to the next crossroads.
We arrive in front of the Les Volcans hotel where we spend the night (E).
