(S) From your campsite, take the Thurweg and head south-west to reach the signpost on the Hauptstrasse. Turn left and follow the footpath/cycle path to the house behind the wooded area. First turn right then left between the safety barriers, cross the Hauptstrasse carefully, then continue north-west for about 400 m to the signpost.
(1) Turn right (southeast) onto the grassy path between two cultivated fields, then enter the Oberau woods heading northeast and continue to a crossroads.
(2) At a 90° angle, turn right (southeast), then turn left as soon as you leave the woods to follow the edge of the forest on your left. Once you reach the railway line, turn left to descend towards Frauenfelderstrasse, downstream from a tunnel.
(3) At a hairpin bend, turn left into the tunnel, then take the small path on the left as you exit the tunnel to reach Weinfelderstrasse. Continue left (north-west) , keeping an eye on the grassy, unpaved shoulder, then proceed to the signpost opposite the Eico Frigemo company.
(4) Turn right towards Wald/Konstanz. Cross the industrial estate, then continue north-east on a small road that slopes slightly upwards. Pass the greenhouses of an agri-food producer, cross Boltshauserstrasse carefully and continue to the signpost at the intersection of the paths.
(5) Continue northeast towards Wald/Konstanz. At the crossroads, cross Ruberbaumstrasse carefully and, at the signpost, continue towards Wald/Konstanz. Take the tarmac road that climbs through a small wood, then turn right at the fork to reach a crossroads in the hamlet of Hinterer Ruberbaum.
(6) Continue left, northeast, and cross the fields to the signpost at the junction with Chätzlistrasse.
(7) First turn right then left to pass charming half-timbered houses on Hauptstrasse, then quickly turn left to the north-east to continue across the fields on Pilgerweg. Walk in this direction until you reach the junction with Hugelshoferstrasse.
(8) Cross this road carefully and continue straight ahead, following the signs for Velowerkstatt. At the fork, turn right to reach the hamlet of Entenmoos.
(9) Walk through this picturesque hamlet in a north-easterly direction, enter the Wässewiss woods and continue to the signpost at the crossroads.
(10) Turn left to continue through the Hagholz forest, following the signs for Lippoldswilen/Konstanz. Pass a barbecue area nestled in an idyllic setting on the banks of the Chemebach, then continue to a T-junction.
(11) Turn right towards the south-east, then after several bends, continue north-east until you reach the entrance to the village of Lippoldswilen.
(12) Turn left, then at the sign in front of the restaurant, turn right towards Eilighausen/Konstanz. Continue along Haldenstrasse, crossing the agricultural area to the east until you reach the Furtibach stream, marked by two protective barriers.
(13) Continue along this road in the same direction until you reach the crossroads in the centre of the village of Eilighausen.
(14) At the stop sign, turn left towards Geboltshausen/Konstanz. Follow Greestrasse through the village, taking care as there is no hard shoulder. Continue to the crossroads near a small pond.
(15) Head north-east on Fischweiherstrasse and continue to the hamlet of Geboltshausen.
(16) Turn left to continue on Stickereistrasse. Head north-west across farmland to the hamlet of Schwaderloh. Continue to the fork at the entrance to the hamlet.
(17) Turn right, then left after the house to continue north on a gravel path. Follow the footpath along Kreuzlingerstrasse to the edge of the forest, past the Bernrainbau nature reserve.
(18) Turn right to continue through the woods towards the north-east. Ignore the side paths and follow the signs to the T-junction.
(19) Turn right (southeast) onto Bunkerstrasse, then turn left (northeast) at the intersection. Cross a field before reaching the woods. Ignoring the side paths, continue in this direction, following the signs until you reach the crossroads.
(20) Continue left (north-west) to the junction with Brunnenstrasse, near the Heiligkreuz-Kirche Bernrain chapel.
(21) Continue left. After visiting the chapel, carefully cross Bernrainstrasse to reach the path opposite, which leads to a military cemetery. Then turn left to enter the Schlossbüel woods and follow the path to the Saubach stream.
(22) The path continues to the right (north/north-east) on a pleasant downhill Way of the Cross, running alongside the Saubach stream. On the descent, take a staircase that blends perfectly into the wooded landscape. Follow the signs to reach an old mill (Alte Mühle) located near a viaduct supporting a railway line.
(23) Pass under the viaduct and continue along Mühlestrasse to enter the town of Kreuzlingen. At the stop sign, turn left onto Schmittenstrasse, then right after the fountain to continue along Esslenstrasse. Stay on this street heading north-east until you reach the stop sign at the intersection with Unterseestrasse.
(24) Cross carefully, then take a first turn right then left to go along the covered car park, following the signs for Künststoff-Packungen on the dead-end road. After the left turn, turn right onto Weststrasse and continue to the intersection with Weiherstrasse.
(25) Continue straight ahead on Weststrasse, then turn right at the end of the street. Follow Rheinstrasse south-east to the roundabout.
(26) Following the signs and paying attention to crossings, go halfway around the roundabout, then take the small road that goes down under the railway tracks. In front of the Swiss Bellevue Hotel, continue northeast on Emmishofer Strasse and stay on the left-hand pavement until you reach the customs post.
Here, you will leave Switzerland and enter Germany.
(27) Continue straight ahead after the customs post and you will come to a right-hand bend opposite the Hotel Constantia. Turn left onto Kreuzlinger Strasse and follow this road to the Schnetztor Tower.
(28) Pass through the tower's archway and follow Hussenstraße north-east. As you walk through the old town with its shops and richly decorated houses, you will arrive at Constance Cathedral.
No signposts
(29) After visiting the cathedral, turn right as you exit the main entrance and cross Münsterplatz heading northeast. You will arrive at an intersection where you will see a sculpture of a model of the city of Constance on the ground. Continue left (northeast) on Brückengasse, then at the no-entry sign, turn right to continue on Inselgasse until you reach the level crossing.
(30) After carefully crossing the level crossing, turn left and stay on the pavement that runs alongside the railway line on your left. Follow this line and cross the Old Bridge over the Rhine.
(31) After the bridge, turn right and go down the steps leading to Seestraße. You will find yourself on the shore of Lake Constance, at the mouth of the Rhine. Follow the lake on your right along the footpath to the marina.
(32) Walk along the lake shore and continue to the Freibad Konstanz thermal baths building.
(33) Continue following the lake, which will guide you north-west, passing close to a park. Cross a wooded area before reaching a yellow building.
(34) Continue along the lake to the sports fields. Turn left to reach the entrance to Camping Bruderhofer (E).
