Description of the walk

Start at the Place du Marché in Envermeu.

(S/E) Opposite the town hall, leave the square by turning right towards Place de l’Église.
Cross the square, passing the Tourist Office on your left and the church on your right, until you reach the junction.

(1) Take the street on your left, diagonally across, Rue du 8 Mai 1945. Where the street bends to the right, take the road on your left which begins to climb.

(2) Go under the railway bridge and take the first street on your right, Le Mont Blanc.

(3) Then turn onto the dirt track on your left which climbs up into the Cavée de Bray.
Continue along this track, which turns into a tarmac road as you reach the hamlet of Bray.

(4) Walk through the hamlet along the main street, Rue Guislain, ignoring the street on your left.

(5) After this junction, pass on your left by the former Saint-Guillain Chapel, which has been converted into a simple barn.
On leaving the hamlet of Bray, continue straight on along the flat road for 1,800 metres between the wind turbines until you reach a T-junction with another road, Route de Gouchaupré.

(6) Turn right onto the road that winds down through the Fonds d’Imbouval to the village of Saint-Ouen-sous-Bailly.
Carry on along the road until you reach the T-junction with the D149, Rue de Bailly.

(7) Turn left onto Rue de Bailly and cross the bridge over the Bailly-Bec.

(8) Take the first street on your right, Rue du Bailly-Bec. Then, at the Fork in the road, continue slightly to your right along the same street.
Continue through the village of Saint-Ouen-sous-Bailly, staying on Rue du Bailly-Bec as you follow the banks of the stream and cross the Bailly-Bec at several fords until you reach the junction near the church.

(9) At the junction, turn left onto Rue du Moulin.
Walk past the town hall on your left. Continue along Rue du Moulin, crossing the bridge where a mural is engraved on its parapets.
Carry on to the T-junction with Rue d’Auberville.
Turn right onto Rue d’Auberville and follow it until you reach the outskirts of Saint-Ouen-sous-Bailly.
Carry on along this road, which runs alongside the Plaine du Farival for about 1,500 metres, before reaching the hamlet of Auberville and joining the D920.

(10) Turn right and take the right-hand pavement along the D920 to reach the village of Envermeu.
Cross over the Bailly-Bec, continue straight on along Rue Général de Gaulle, passing the Lycée du Bois, and carry on to the end of Rue Général de Gaulle.

(11) At the end, you’ll come to a junction at the foot of the church.
Go round the house on the corner. On your right, cross Rue de l’Abbé Cochet.
Opposite, take the small street to the right of the church – Rue du Chœur – which leads to Place de l’Église.

(1) Turn left, cross Place de l’Église and head back to Place du Marché, your starting point (S/E).

A walk with far too much tarmac,
but the walk through Saint-Ouen-sous-Bailly was lovely

A lovely walk. Walking past the wind turbines in winter is quite impressive. The 2 km stretch across the plain to Bray is a bit long.
The village of Saint-Ouen-sous-Bailly is lovely, with its fords, footbridges, rivers and ducks!
A lovely walk, not too difficult, taking about 2½ hours.

Hello,
Thank you for your comment – it’s much appreciated. You’ve done the route in reverse. The path leading to the hamlet of Bray must be very muddy; it’s a cart track. It’s true that walking through the village of Saint Ouen sous Bailly is very pleasant.
I’d invite you to check out my other walks that have been approved on Visorando.

This is the fourth time I’ve done this walk. It takes about 3 hours at a normal pace. There’s a lot of tarmac and easy-to-walk paths. The end (the descent through the forest) is trickier, with plenty of mud as it’s been raining a lot recently.
But overall it’s a very pleasant walk; you pass through a small village (Saint Ouen sous Bailly) alongside a little river where every resident has ducks in their garden. There’s also a picnic area in the middle of the village; in summer, it’s a lovely spot to have a meal. The biggest challenge for those who aren’t used to walking is a hill (on the road) leading up to the plateau.
