Park in the large central square in Issarlès.
(S/E) Head north. At the large triangular area planted with chestnut trees, equipped with benches and games, follow the road to the left towards Salettes (D116) and the campsite.
Leave the D116 just before the village exit, at the campsite, by taking the path on the left that runs alongside the football pitch. Walk along the pitch and then start the descent by following the path, which becomes a trail. Signpost "Bords de Loire". After a slightly steep section (which can be bypassed if the ground is slippery), the path enters the forest and continues to descend steadily.
(1) At the bottom of the descent, you will see the confluence of the Orcival, marked by a beautiful series of waterfalls, and the Loire. Do not cross it, but turn left and walk upstream along the Loire. Enjoy the beautiful walk along the young river, sometimes on grassy paths, sometimes on large slabs (some of which are slippery when wet). The tricky sections are equipped with chains. Follow the yellow and white markings carefully. The route along the Loire ends naturally in front of a ruin.
(2) Follow the path and the markings that branch off to the left. The path then becomes a carriage road. Walk gently uphill to the village.
(3) After the first houses in the village, the path leads to the D116. Take it to the left to reach the main square, the starting point (S/E).
