Description

Start at St Peter's Church, Croft-on-Tees

(S) From St Peter's Church, cross Croft Bridge over the River Tees and turn right into Hurworth Road. Follow the road around crossing the bridge over the railway lines.

(1) Hurworth Road becomes Croft Road at Hurworth School. Continue following the road which becomes first West End and then the Green as it reaches Hurworth-on-Tees.

(2) Continue following the road which becomes Church View at All Saints' Church. You will now see the River Tees and Low Hail Bridge to your right. The road now becomes Neasham Road.

(3) On reaching Neasham, cross the bridge over Kent Beck into Teesway. Turn right by the end of the wall and take the path southeast by the sign for Neasham Village Green. The beck will be on your right and will enter the Tees at the point the path turns left to follow the banks of the Tees. It continues along a ridge and then swings back to Teesway."To avoid steps/stile stay on Teesway and then turn right into Sockburn lane."

(4) "To avoid the stile, go down the steps/slope onto Teesway, then follow Teesway for approximately 200m then turn right onto Sockburn Lane.'' Otherwise continue on the path along the banks of the Tees until it reaches Sockburn Lane.

(5) Turn right onto Sockburn Lane and follow the road southwest.

(6) Continue past Laundry Cottage on your right.

(7) Continue past Liberty Lodge on your left.

(8) Continue past the parking area and fishing pond on your right. When you reach the cluster of buildings at High Sockburn, turn left onto the track across the field and reach a memorial at the far side of the field.

(9) Cross the bridge and follow the track first to the right and then sharply to the left to reach All Saints' Church at Girsby (E).
