The starting point is in the centre of Courzieu, where you will find a car park (there are other car parks, but this one often has spaces available for hikers).
Most of the time, we will follow the yellow markings or the Fraise circuit.
(S/E) Leave the car park on the left-hand side and walk up Avenue Centrale. At the town hall, you will find a well-marked yellow lane on the right-hand side, which will take you up to the path where you will need to turn left.
(1) At the crossroads just after, go straight ahead. Ignore the path on the right that goes downhill. The path runs alongside a cherry orchard (very tempting in season) and offers a beautiful view of the Brevenne.
(2) At the cross, ignore the road going up to the left and take the one going down. Follow this small road to a place called Le Poulat.
(3) Continue along the road on the left, which turns into a track. The track continues along the ridge. After a fairly steep slope, you will come to a cherry orchard and cross theGR®7.
(4) Turn left to follow the cherry orchard: very steep slope.
(5) After a long climb, you will reach an intersection that will take you back to Courzieu via the ridges; continue on the left and follow the yellow markings.
(6) At the cross, take the road on the left to reach an intersection with a picnic area.
(7) Take the path opposite (yellow markings). Continue uphill to the Croix de Pars, where there are several picnic areas.
(8) Take the small road that leads to Le Gilet (without going there) and continue via the Tour du Lyonnais markings to see the Lyonnais and Pilat areas.
(9) At the bend, continue straight ahead without going to Le Cazot
(10) At the chapel, descend slightly to take a path parallel to the road.
(11) Cross the road carefully to take the path opposite.
(12) Follow the small, unmarked path straight ahead. At the edge of the woods, it widens.
(13) At the intersection with an uphill path, turn left to rejoin the road. Cross carefully and turn right onto the marked Col de Malval path. When you reach the D50, turn right to reach the Malval car park.
(14) Take the path downhill on the left and then turn left at the hairpin bend to take the path that runs alongside the D50 and then joins it.
(15) Cross the D50 carefully and take the marked path opposite.
(16) At the crossroads, take the tarmac road down to Lafont. In this hamlet, go straight ahead (signpost) and you will come to a small road.
(17) Follow the small path on the right between two houses, which descends steeply towards Courzieu. At the first houses, turn left and join the Route de Malval. Follow it to the left, negotiate the right-hand bend, then go straight ahead to reach the car park (S/E).
