Coulée Verte and urban trail from Colombes to Asnières

A short hike, from station to station, in two stages. First, follow the Coulée Verte along the route of an old disused railway line, then a green walkway, both of which have been converted for pedestrians. Next, explore the streets and alleys to discover a diverse range of residential architecture.

This walk is part of a multi-day hike: La Petite Couronne de Paris

Description of the walk

Starting point and access: Colombes station.
- Transilien - Line J, on the section between Paris-Saint-Lazare and Argenteuil.
Take the Rue du Bournard exit.

Yellow markings

(S) When leaving the station, turn left onto Rue de l'Indépendance towards the Coulée Verte. At the roundabout, continue straight ahead on the same street, which becomes a dead end, and follow the railway line on your left. As soon as the street narrows, turn left onto the Coulée Verte, which starts on a wooden pontoon. Continue along a gravel path where the old rails are visible, in a wooded, enclosed environment. Pass under two bridges and then go past an old goods wagon that has been converted into a reception office.

Cross the street and continue straight ahead on the Coulée Verte, which is more open, still on a gravel path. Ignore the stairs leading down to the right. At the fork, take either path: the ramp down to the left or the stairs and playground to the right. At the end, leave the Coulée Verte.

No markings

(1) Cross the street (Rue Félix Faure on the map), go up the street opposite and take the bridge over the railway line. At the end of the street, continue straight ahead on the Promenade Verte, a wide cement path, and walk alongside a school on your left and another railway line on your right. At the sign saying "Un train peut en cacher un autre" (One train can hide another), cross the street and continue straight ahead on the Promenade Verte. You will come to the railway line again, this time on your left. Continue straight ahead on the concrete path and cross two streets.

(2) At the next intersection (traffic lights), turn left, cross the railway line and cross Rue Louis Willaume. At the roundabout, cross Avenue Chevreul and continue straight ahead on Avenue Faidherbe towards Bois-Colombes. Then take the second left, Rue des Tilleuls.

At the end, turn left and, at the corner of the parish building, turn right onto a path towards the Church of Saint-Marc. N.B. This is a private road, so please respect the premises (if the access is closed, continue along the street and then turn right twice to return to Rue des Bruyères). You will come out at the foot of the church tower, a sort of cone rising from the ground, and walk along the church on your right. At the front of the church, exit through a metal gate at No. 23 Rue des Bruyères.

(3) Follow the street to the right until it ends. Then turn right onto Rue Pierre Joigneaux. Take the second right, Avenue Dianoux (small houses of diverse and original architecture). At the end, first turn left then right to follow Avenue Jeanne. At the crossroads, turn left onto Rue Parmentier (small half-timbered house on the right). At the next crossroads, continue straight ahead.

Yellow markings

(4) Cross Rue Paul Bert, then turn left into Square Silvain. Go around the playground on the left and leave the square via Rue Benoît Malon. Follow this street to the left and walk alongside the Marché Flachat market hall. At the end, opposite a pharmacy, turn right, cross Avenue Max de Nansouty and enter the square of the same name.

Turn left immediately, follow a gravel path and pass under a pergola. After the pergola (toilets on the left), take a ramp on the right that winds downhill. At the bottom, turn left, pass through a gate and continue straight ahead with the railway line on your right. Exit the square through a gate and continue along the street opposite (ignore a yellow arrow on the left, as two differentPR® trails intersect here). At the traffic lights, turn right and cross the railway line. At the crossroads, continue straight ahead along Rue des Bourguignons and note the Bois-Colombes station (Transilien line J) on your left.

No signposts

(5) Continue straight ahead on Rue des Bourguignons, which is very busy with shops at this point. Cross Rue Magenta on the right-hand side, then Rue Raspail on the left-hand side. Then turn right onto Rue du Chalet. At the end, turn left onto Rue Henri Moreau. At number 19, turn right into a narrow street where the speed limit is 20km/h. Turn left with the alleyway and, at the end, follow Rue du Bac on the right.

(6) Take the fourth left, Rue Émile Deschanel (large house on the right-hand side). Then turn right onto Rue Retrou. At the end, turn right onto Rue Paul Déroulède and walk along the left-hand side of Collège François Truffaut. At the corner, turn left again onto Rue du Bac. At the end, turn right and, after about 50 metres, turn left onto Rue Waldeck Rousseau.

At the traffic lights, cross Avenue de la Marne and follow it to the right. At the foot of the railway bridge, turn left onto Rue Denis Papin. Walk up the street and you will find the Asnières-sur-Seine station (E) on your right.

To return home:
- Transilien - Line J, towards Paris-Saint-Lazare or towards Mantes-la-Jolie, Gisors or Ermont-Eaubonne.
- Transilien - Line L, towards Paris-Saint-Lazare or towards Versailles-Rive-Droite, Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche or Cergy-le-Haut.

Did it last week with a group of eight seniors. Perfect course, semi-urban with very pretty houses on the last part of the course. Course suitable for periods when there will be muddy forests or flooded quays.

The route begins with an attractive green corridor, laid out along a disused railway line, followed by a more recent green walkway, which extends along the same old freight tracks but this time runs alongside a Transilien commuter train line.
You then walk through the streets of Bois-Colombes and Asnières, which are certainly less picturesque but offer a varied atmosphere.
Throughout this walk, you are never very far from the railway tracks!
Thank you for this interesting stage.
NB: to access the underground, at ⑥ continue along Avenue de la Marne for about 800 metres and cross the Pont de Levallois bridge. The Levallois-Bécon station, the terminus of line 3, is at the end of the bridge.

A pleasant stroll through the green corridor and promenade, planted with various species of trees and plants. The "streets" section is not quite as nice, but there are still some beautiful houses to see. No difficulties encountered (asphalt path, no hills) and very precise description.

A remarkable route, both for the interest of the green corridor and for the discovery of beautiful early 20th-century suburban architecture in the urban area.
The route is easy to follow if you have the .gpx file.

I added the discovery of the Parc des Bruyères, the remains of the old exhibition station moved to Bois-Colombes, and also the Château d'Asnières.

The first part of the walk along the green corridors of Colombes and Bois-Colombes is very pleasant. The section in Asnières is a bit long towards the end. It may be worth making a small detour to see the ruins of Lisch station when you reach number 5, but the site is not accessible.
