Park in the Collioure Harbour Master's Office car park.
(S/E) Walk along the quay (Avenue Camille Pelletan) westwards to the Hôtel de la Frégate. Turn left onto Rue de la République to reach a roundabout.
(1) Leave the Route d'Argelès on your right and take the second exit onto Rue du Temple. Take the passage under the railway line, continue along Rue de la Galère, then Chemin de la Consolation until you reach a fork in the road.
(2) Keep left on Chemin de la Consolation, continue forward and pass under the Douy road viaduct. When you reach another intersection, keep left for about 30 metres until you reach a footpath.
(3) At this point, a sign indicates the direction of Torre de Madaloc, Coll de la Serra, and Ermitage Notre-Dame de Consolation. Take this paved path, which is quite steep at the beginning. Pass in front of the Santa Teresa Oratory. Continue for about 150 metres on a small road and take the path on the left, which begins with a few steps (yellow markings).
(4) At the Ermitage Hotel Bar, near an isolated building, look for a path that branches off to the left (east) with a few steps and a sign for Tour Madeloc, Coll de la Serra with yellow markings. Follow this fairly steep path until you reach the D86 road.
(5) Follow the D86 to the right and you will come to a car park on the left-hand side of the road.
(6) Climb up to the left and after 100 m, you will reach Mas de la Serra and then Coll de la Serra.
(7) At Coll de la Serra, a sign points to Tour Madeloc via the path furthest to the left. Begin the climb via a fairly steep path through the rocks to finally reach a small summit where the Taillefer Battery is nestled.
(8) Continue south for about 300 m to reach a fork in the road, just after passing Col de Taillefer.
(9) At this intersection, take the path going uphill; the one on the left will be reserved for the return trip. Continue the ascent to the Madeloc Tower, which appears after two large hairpin bends.
(10) At the Madeloc Tower, take a break to enjoy the panoramic view. To the east, the view stretches from Argelès to Cerbère, passing through Collioure, Port Vendres and Banyuls. To the west, the Pic de Neulos stands out. Begin the descent by taking the same path you took on the way up to the Col de Taillefer (Madeloc/Molló junction).
(9) At this junction, take the hairpin turn to the right towards Coll de Molló. Descend this pleasant path to the Casernes du Centre, where you will find a viewpoint overlooking Banyuls and its vineyards.
(11) Continue left and reach Coll de Molló via the D86, which is lined with vineyards. At the pass, turn right onto the Coll de Mala Cara road to find, 400 m further on, a signpost and the start of a good path.
(12) Follow the signs for Fort Dugommier and Fort Saint-Elme on the left. Walk to Coll d'en Raixat, then head towards Fort Dugommier (closed for renovation). Shortly after the gate to the building site, climb over a small wall on the left and continue on a path leading directly to Fort Saint-Elme, which is clearly visible.
(13) At the entrance to Fort Saint-Elme, there are two paths leading to Collioure. Take the one on the right (signposted Coma Xeric), which heads north and passes through the olive grove. Take a detour (about 100 metres) to the mill, which offers a superb view of Collioure.
(14) Retrace your steps and continue downhill towards Collioure to reach the road to Port Vendres.
(15) Turn left and enter Collioure via the road along the beach to the Royal Castle.
(16) Follow the coastal path, skirting the ramparts along the shore, and reach the Collioure harbour master's office after a footbridge (S/E).
