Col Raiser Seceda

The starting point for this walk is the roundabout between the villages of Santa Christina Val Gardena and Selva di Val Gardena.

(S/E) From the Hotel Dosses (Santa Christina), take the first road heading north (Strada Cisles), on the right bank of the Rio Cisles.

(1) Keep facing the road on the right bank of the Rio Cisles to the end, cross the Cisles torrent on a stone bridge and arrive at the Col Raiser cable car station. Cross the car park and join the Strada Col Raiser.

(2) Head north-east towards the Col Raiser and reach the Cisles chairlift station and the Ciaulonch Hütte.

(3) Take the left-hand path, which winds up to the Col Raiser.

(4) Follow trail 4A north towards the Aiguilles de Fermeda until you reach a crossroads.

(5) Continue along path 4A, following the sign for Pieralongia on the right. Proceed to the Rifugio Pieralongia, leaving two paths to the right leading to the via ferrata Sass Rigais.

(6) From the refuge, take time to admire the Pieralungia rock and the Fermeda needles. Staying on trail 2B heading west, catch up with trail 1 and climb towards the junction in the direction of Forcella Pana.

(7) Leave path no. 1 and turn right towards the gap at the foot of the Fermeda Needles. Climb the paved path to Forcella Pana (panoramic view of Fermeda and the Villnoß valley).

(8) Continue under the ridge as far as the Fermeda chairlift station, skirting it along the cliff to reach the Seceda viewpoint, marked by a cross and an orientation table. Enjoy this new panoramic viewpoint. Look out for the nearby peaks: Petite and Grande Fermeda, Sass de Mesdi, Gran Odla, Sass Rigais and Furchetta.

(9) Descend towards the Seceda cable car station from Ortisei.
Head due east, aiming for the Sofie restaurant, then take the path marked 1A/6 down to the lower station of the Catores chairlift.

(10) Leaving path no. 1A, take path no. 6 to a crossroads just before Cuca.

(11) Heading south-south-west, take trail 6A through the woods. Descend to an intersection.

(12) At the junction, turn right onto path no. 6A, which leads down to Ortisei. Opt for N°1 opposite, which climbs up to a small pass. At the pass, the path becomes a track numbered 20 and you begin your descent, following the signs for Baita Seurasas.

(13) After a possible break at this charming Baita, take the track which eventually leads to a car park.

(14) From the car park, follow the road westwards for around 100 metres. Short cut N°20 avoids the bends in the road. Catch up with the Strada Plesdinaz on a hairpin bend.
Continue due south until you reach a crossroads at La Creusc.

(15) Turn left, go through the hamlet of Plesdinaz, turn right at a fork and soon find a path signposted Santa Christina.
Take this path back to Santa Christina, then follow the Cisles Strada southwards back to the original crossroads.

(1) Follow the same route as before to the right, skirting the torrent as far as the Hôtel Dosses Santa Christina roundabout (S/E).

• You can shorten the route by taking the Col Raiser cable car (approximately from (2) to (4)). In this case, allow 4 km less and around 500m less ascent.
