This circular walk takes you into a lesser-known part of the Vosges. It is a challenging hike designed for those who enjoy long distances and significant elevation gain. There are numerous viewpoints along this route. The first is at the Notre-Dame de la Paix viewpoint, the second at Les Petites Alpes, and the next at La Roche de Minuit. From this summit, there is a splendid view over La Bresse and the rest of the route. Crossing the Bresse valley gives you the chance to stock up on supplies for the rest of the walk. The subsequent 400-metre climb to La Truche can be quite gruelling at times. The route then runs alongside a few peat bogs and through woodland before reaching Rondfaing and the Pierre des Quatre Communes. The rest of the walk is then, for the most part, downhill towards Cornimont, passing several vantage points along the way.

The walk continues with a long descent past the Sotré mountain refuge, Lake Retournemer and the shores of Lake Longemer, before reaching the centre of Xonrupt-Longemer. A varied stage combining forests, high-altitude scree slopes, glacial lakes and remarkable panoramic views.
