Start from the Petite Suisse housing estate in Villers-en-Fagne.
(S/E) Head west and, on leaving the estate, take the path through a former housing development that was never occupied. Shortly after entering the woods, the path crosses the route of an underground gas pipe marked by orange bollards. At the T-junction that follows shortly afterwards, turn right. The path turns left and then right about 150 m further on.
(1) After 200 m, leave the wide path and take thefirst path on the left. You will find a few stone markers along this path. After about 500 m, the path leads onto a tarmac road (Villers-en-Fagne – Sautour).
(2) Cross the road and take a path (not always very visible) directly opposite. This path widens quickly and, after about 1 km, joins a forest track.
(3) Continue straight along the forest road until you come out onto a small road (Roly - Samart).
(4) Follow the road to the right, marked with the red and white signs ofthe GR®12.
(5) After 530 m, leave the road and follow theGR®12to the right into the woods. Stay on the marked path, which can be very muddy in wet weather. Exit the woods. After a further 500 m from the exit of the woods, you reach the first houses of the village of Sautour.
(6) At the first house, leave theGR®12and turn right, then immediately left. Pass close to a small wind turbine, return to the tarmac and soon reach a T-junction.
(7) Follow a path to the right that runs alongside meadows and descends towards a stream before climbing back up into the woods. After about 200 m in the woods, turn left. Join the road from Villers-en-Fagne to Sautour.
(8) Follow the road uphill to the right until you reach the top.
(9) At the top, take the path on the left into the woods. After a right-hand bend, you’ll come to a junction you passed on the way out.
(1) Continue straight ahead and, after 200 m, turn left. Follow the path back the way you came to return to the car park (S/E).
