Circular in Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse

Here, as elsewhere, take advantage of the beautiful autumn colours to leave behind the deep, dark forests of certain areas of the Ardennes, where spruce trees reign supreme, and explore the countryside and deciduous forests of the Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse region.

Description of the walk

(S/E) Starting from the cemetery in Villers-le-Gambon, the hike stretches across the countryside for about 2 km to reach Franchimont.
(1) After a short stop at the Calvary (km 2.5), the route climbs through the woods to rejoin the agricultural plateau to the outskirts of Omezée.
(2) The route then heads north and crosses a beautiful forest to arrive within sight of the village of Rosée. Be sure to follow the main forest paths and trails and avoid the poorly maintained side roads.
(3) Next comes another stretch of countryside before entering the Renonceau woods, which the route crosses from one side to the other for about 3 km.
(4) Shortly after km 15, take the unmarked path that branches off to the left into the woods. It runs alongside the marked route and avoids a very muddy section on the wide main path.
(5) The return to the starting point follows the magnificent route of the old railway line that linked Florennes to Mariembourg.
