Parking is available near the café "À la Couronne" at the corner of Rue de la Montagne and Rue Principale.
(S/E) Cross the bridge and turn left until you reach the next bridge. Turn right up Rue des Champs to the calvary.
(1) At the calvary, follow the tarmac path marked Blue Ring on the right, which immediately turns left, and walk about 1.5 metres. An observation post is visible on the right, hidden in the vegetation, after about 500 metres (it is not marked on the IGN map). After entering the woods and passing the first intersection, continue straight ahead to reach the edge of the Neuweiher (weiher = pond).
(2) Leave the Blue Ring, which branches off to the right, and continue straight ahead. Follow the Green Saltire markings. The foundations of a bunker can be seen on the left of the path before you reach the firing range.
(3) When you reach the Untergemeindeweiher, take the left bank and follow the Green Saltire for about 1.5 km. Between the first two ponds, on the right, are the remains of a bunker.
(4) In front of the Neuweier (not to be confused with its namesake encountered earlier), turn left, still following the Green Saltire. Pass between two ponds and arrive at the D17.
(5) Cross the D17 and continue straight ahead, following the Green Saltire to the farm.
(6) At the calvary, turn left, leave the Green Saltire and follow the Red Triangle markings. As you enter the woods, on both sides of the path, there are a few bunkers in poor condition (they are not marked on the IGN map). After about 1.5km, you will arrive at the Steinbach crossroads.
(7) A beautiful spot where you can enjoy a peaceful meal surrounded by greenery. The remains of a fortification can be seen here. Take the path uphill on the right, following the Red Triangle markings. Enter the village of Heimersdorf, follow Rue des Vergers and then turn left onto Rue des Œillets (Red Triangle).
(8) At the Calvary, leave Rue des Œillets and go up Rue du Chariot on the left, following the Red Triangle markings.
(9) After a crossroads and a farm, on both sides of the path, there is a line of casemates in very good condition. Continue straight ahead for a little over 100 metres, leaving the Red Triangle. At the crossroads, turn left towards the west. The path then heads north and follows the Green Cross markings.
(10) At the crossroads, leave the Green Cross and continue straight ahead, northwards to the entrance to Hirtzbach via Rue de la Montagne, directly below the power lines.
(11) Upon entering the village, turn right and go down Rue du Réservoir, then, at the cemetery, turn right onto Rue du Cimetière. Continue left until you reach the entrance to Reinach Park.
(12) Walk around Reinach Park, then when you leave the park, turn left towards the church and cross Rue Principale and the bridge.
(13) Walk up Rue Principale on the left to the starting point (S/E).
