Description of the walk

Park in the car park of the Saulny community hall.

(S/E) Turn left as you leave the car park, then turn right up the steps next to the electrical substation. Follow the path along the EGO car park fence to Rue de Vigneulles.

(1) Turn left and continue along the small tarmac road, passing the old tile works on your left, then turn right onto the tarmac track. Pass a Telecom relay mast on your right and reach the sign marking the entrance to the village of Lorry-lès-Metz.

(2) Turn right onto a grassy path running alongside the Clos de Vigneulles. Follow the boundary wall and then turn right onto a gently ascending path. Keep to the right and continue along this path, lined with crops on the left and orchards on the right. Cross a wooded area and, as you emerge from the woods (elevation 249), a wooden bench on the right offers a spot to take a break and enjoy the view over the village of Saulny. Continue straight on along a path between two fields, passing the Grande Tuilerie farm on your right, then take a 90° left-hand bend to reach a crossroads.

(3) Turn right onto a gently sloping path and join the Chemin du Moulin. Turn left, pass the buildings of the Moulin de la Manotte, cross the Ruisseau de Saulny and join the Rue du Moulin. Turn left and then, after 90 m, turn right into the Rue des Courtes Rayes.

(4) At No. 9, turn right onto the Petite Noue path, which winds its way between gardens and houses. When you reach an old well (Puits Mignon), turn left up a slight incline onto Rue de la Petite Noue to reach Rue du Château, which you follow to the right for a few dozen metres.

(5) Turn right onto the unpaved Ruelle du Boudillon, which leads to Rue de Metz. Turn right, pass in front of Société Informatique ACCAS and walk down Rue de Metz for just under 100 m. Then turn right onto a small path between two houses, called Sentier du Michelin. Follow this path down to a small square and continue along the same path. After about twenty metres, turn left onto the Sentier de la Tuilerie, which leads onto Rue de la Tuilerie.

(6) Turn right to reach Rue du Moulin. At the stop sign, turn left, take the right-hand pavement and then turn right into Rue de Vigneulles. Cross the Ruisseau de Saulny and you will immediately reach a junction.

(7) Turn left onto Rue de Vigneulles and stay on the left-hand pavement. Take the second street on the left, Rue des Primevères, and continue along the Passage de la Chadotte on the left. Cross the Ruisseau de Saulny via a wooden bridge and reach Rue de Metz.

(8) Turn right onto this road, go round the roundabout on the right and head for the car park (S/E).
