Departure from the car park at Sentein Place de la Mairie.
(S/E) Turn left, pass the post office and continue along Rue d'Antras (D704c).
(1) Leave the road and take the path on the left, which crosses it twice before rejoining it at the entrance to the village of Antras.
(2) Continue left on the road to enter the village. At the crossroads, turn right and continue straight on the road, which then gives way to a path. Ignore the paths on either side and continue to a three-way junction.
(3) Turn left and continue westwards. Pass several pretty cabins cut off from the world, most of which are still inhabited.
(4) Pass close to the Cazaux fountain. Further on, leave the path on the left that leads to Col Méda and reach Col de la Croix.
(5) This is the ideal spot for your first break after about an hour's walk. Take the first path on the right, which curves sharply to the right and heads west. Pass several paths on the left and reach a fork after crossing the Ruisseau de Couledoux stream.
(6) Turn right and follow a few hairpin bends before quickly reaching the pretty pastoral hut perched on the mountainside. Continue to Col des Morères.
(7) Once again, this is a pleasant spot to take a break before climbing Pic de Sérau. Turn left at a 90° angle and head north, straight up the slope, to reach the peak.
(8) Turn right to follow the pretty ridge. Pass successively by Pic de Mardans, Col de Portet (9) and Pic de Moussau (10) before reaching Pic de l'Arraing, the destination of this hike (very beautiful landscape, soothing calm).
(11) Leave the ridge and begin the descent on the right to the small hut at Col de l'Arraing.
(12) At the crossroads just after, ignore the path on the right and continue straight ahead on the south-west facing path.
(13) At the edge of the forest (elevation 1181), turn left. At the T-junction, turn right and descend to the access road to the hamlet of Balacet (D704).
(14) Turn right and cross the hamlet, following the road straight ahead. Leave the road at the left-hand bend and continue straight ahead on the path, which remains almost level, to reach Irazein.
(15) Cross the village, turning left between the houses. Come out onto a small road opposite the cemetery and follow it to the right. At the hairpin bend, leave the road and take the path on the left which leads down to the D4.
(16) Turn right towards Sentein. After passing the school (on your left), turn right into Rue du Commerce to return to the car park where you started (S/E).
