Description of the walk

(S/E) From the car park, cross the L151 and walk along the road opposite for 250m.

(1) Take the third path on the left, marked with a Yellow Diamond or ‘7 Moore Weg’ (the Moorland Path).
You’ll pass peat bogs 1 and 2, staying on the path towards Schwartze Säge.

(2) When you reach the road at the old carpenter’s workshop, turn left. Follow the road, pass bog no. 3 and then, after the bridge, bog no. 4.

(3) A small path on the right allows you to cross peat bog no. 5. At the other end, follow the road for 500m to the car park.

(4) Take the sharp left-hand bend onto the path leading uphill through the forest, the “Sonnen Matten Weg”. Walk past bog no. 6, leave the path on your left and continue to the next junction.

(5) Turn left towards Wehrhalden (Yellow Diamond) and, after 1 km, you’ll see bog no. 7. You’re now on the final stretch of the “7 Moore Weg” route as you reach the road.

(6) Cross the road and take the steep path through the forest opposite. As you head downhill, you’ll catch a glimpse of the village of Wehrhalden.

(7) At the next junction, turn left onto the “Wehrhalder Grenz Weg”. This takes you straight back to the car park (S/E).

Notes

Starting point:
Coming from the motorway, at Lörrach, take exit 5 towards Schopfheim on the B317. On the Schopfheim bypass, turn left towards Wehr on the B518, then follow signs for Todtmoos on the L148.
When you reach Todtmoos, you’ll see a large clinic on the hillside; 150 metres further on, turn right towards Herrischried on the L151 and drive uphill for 7 km until you reach a junction where there is an information sign on your right. The car park is next to it.

There is no shelter along the route, so please take care in wet weather.

Hello,
I completely agree with you about tarmac roads. But sometimes you don't have a choice!
To make up for it, after the walk we enjoyed a good black forest.

A short walk in very good weather. It wasn't particularly difficult, the route was shaded most of the time and we passed very few people (which didn't displease me 🙂 ). A bit too much tarmac for my liking though.
I rely (almost) exclusively on the GPX route and it's perfect.
Thank you for this perfect route to stretch your legs.

Hello Claudie,
We did this walk with our children and they really enjoyed it.
It's easy and accessible to all walkers.
Looking forward to another walk.

An easy walk, very well signposted, but not very interesting except for the passage through peat bog no. 5. Part of the route is on the road, the rest almost entirely on forest tracks.

No particular difficulty, perhaps in finding the start (due to a diversion). Not difficult, with some great views, especially at the start with a view of the Alps. Marked "7 moore weg" throughout.

It's true that here in Alsace we're a bit privileged with the Vosges club.
It was a beautiful hike.
