Park in the car park opposite Cussangy Town Hall.
(S/E) Turn right onto Rue des Cannes (D27), passing the village hall. You’ll soon reach a fork in the road.
(1) Turn right onto the small road (Rue Jobin). At the end, turn right onto Route de Turgy (D125). Go round the large triangular pond on the left and continue along the road to leave Cussangy. Ignore Chemin des Saulons on the right and head for a junction just before the D444.
(2) Then turn left onto a path lined with trees on the left. After about 200m, at a fork, take the right-hand path, the Chemin des Bruyères. Follow this path northwards, sometimes along the edge of the woodland, sometimes through the undergrowth.
(3) At the T-junction, turn left. At the next junction, turn right. Immediately take a hairpin bend to the left and continue along the same route via the Voie des Noués (or Nouets – ditches where water overflows, low-lying and damp areas). Pass a hunting lodge on your right and walk alongside a lovely little pond.
(4) Turn right onto Rue Quenotte (quenetter means to snoop around, to search with a hidden agenda). Pass the remains of a wash house known as Petit Gué. A few metres further on, at a fork, turn right onto the Chemin du Haut des Pâtures, where you can admire the boundary between cultivated fields and the forest.
(5) You’ll come out onto Route des Granges (D27) and follow it to the left. After about a hundred metres, take a short detour to the right to visit a washhouse. Continue along the road and, at the end, turn left onto Route de Turgy.
(6) At the junction with Rue de la Quenotte (on the left-hand side), turn right into Impasse du Serpent. Turn left before a stream. When you reach a transformer, turn right onto the D27.
(1) Turn right to return to the starting point (S/E).
