Park in the car park of the Magny-Montarlot village hall.
(S/E) From the square at the Pontot pond, turn right onto the Grand Chemin de Montarlot. There is a beautiful view of the Moulin pond and the village of Magny-Montarlot. Continue to the crossroads of the road leading to the village of Montarlot.
(1) Turn right to cross the village of Montarlot and its calvary marking the site of the old church. Take care when crossing the departmental road. Continue straight on along Chemin du Fiaunai, taking care to avoid the apiary. Cross the railway line and continue towards Poncey-lès-Athée. You will come to a T-junction.
(2) Take the left fork, join the D976, turn right and continue for a few metres, then turn right onto the path. Enter Poncey-lès-Athée.
(3) Turn left, then cross the D976 and continue to Grande Rue. Turn right and, at the next crossroads, turn left onto Rue du Centre, then follow Rue du Puits Gras for a few metres on the left.
Turn right onto Rue Galante until you reach the dam.
(4) Turn right to follow the Saône river. Cross the stream flowing from the Étang de Poncey lake, turn right onto Impasse du Leat to reach the junction with Rue du Buisson Brûlé.
(5) Turn left onto this street, then immediately turn right onto Impasse du Château to follow the left bank of the Saône once again. Continue until you reach the water treatment plant.
(6) Turn left onto Rue de la Prairie, which runs alongside the plant and joins Rue du Buisson Brûlé.
(7) Turn left and you will come back to the D976 opposite the cemetery. After the cemetery, turn left onto Rue du Breuil. Continue along this street until you reach another crossroads, Rue de la Saône.
(8) Turn right onto this street, then take thefirst left onto Rue de la Serpentière. Stay on this street until you reach Rue du Centre.
(9) Turn right onto Rue du Centre, then take thefirst left onto Rue du Faubourg to quickly reach the Chemin du Tremble crossroads.
(10) Turn left onto this road towards the forest. Continue until you reach the railway bridge, which marks the entrance to the Magny-Montarlot forest.
(11) Stay on this wide, straight path which crosses the Grand Bois Défendu to the Bois pond.
(12) Turn right to reach the Pontot pond and return to the car park by following the edge of the pond (S/E).
