Description of the walk

Park in the cemetery car park, opposite the Thomas Pesquet School.

Light blue signposting.

(S/E) Take Rue du Puy Beynet next to the cemetery and follow it to the end.

(1) Turn left onto Route de la Jarrige.

(2) At the junction with Rue de la Vicomté, cross carefully and take the path opposite which runs alongside the A20. Follow this path, which becomes Rue de la Paternerie, and leads onto the D820 (Avenue de l'Occitanie). Follow the verge on the left and proceed with caution to the 1865 mission cross.

(3) Cross Rue de la Vicomté at the pedestrian crossing, then carefully cross Avenue d’Occitanie using the pedestrian crossing opposite the pharmacy. Follow the pavement on the right and immediately turn left onto Rue de la Fontaine Chaumont to reach the fountain. The fountain has been restored by the Sentiers et Patrimoine de Cressensac association. Its wash house has disappeared.

(4) Take the path opposite the fountain, which leads onto Rue de la Résistance, opposite the community hall.

(5) Turn left and note the Resistance monument, which honours the fallen soldiers, particularly those who died during the passage of the infamous ‘Das Reich’ division. Cross the main road (Avenue d'Occitanie) at the pedestrian crossing, follow the pavement on the right until you reach the roundabout. Just before the roundabout, you will find yourself in front of the old coaching inn, an important stop in the days of the stagecoaches for changing horses and allowing travellers to rest.

(6) Continue left until Rue du Stade, turn left and follow this road to the stadium, then turn left and walk alongside it to the last building.

(7) After this, follow the large hedge on the right to the path that leads to the school and the cemetery car park (S/E).
