Description of the walk

Park in the car park next to Saint-Gilles Church and Place du Général de Gaulle.

(S/E) With your back to the church, leave the park on your left – where the Haren Foundry once stood – and turn right onto Rue de la Fonderie. At the junction, continue left onto Rue Principale. You will reach a street coming from the left called Rue des Jardins.

(1) Leave this for later and continue down Rue Principale. Pass the entrance to Villa Haren du Bas and the Square des Incorporés de France to reach the end of the street, where you’ll find a cross and the tree marking the 35th anniversary of the Wuenheim/Gravenwiesbach twinning. On the right, across the road, is the Winegrower’s Museum.

(2) Turn back towards Rue des Jardins.

(1) Turn right onto Rue des Jardins. At the end, turn left onto Rue de la Fonderie.

(3) Continue straight on twice, following Rue du Gazon, then Rue du Tir. Follow this street to Rue Principale.

(4) Turn right and walk past the winegrowers’ houses, some of which have porches. Shortly after the right-hand bend, walk past the sign providing information about the village’s current layout. At the end, you’ll come to a wayside shrine and a fountain.

(5) Turn back, passing the winegrowers’ houses again to return to the junction with Rue du Tir.

(4) Continue straight ahead, passing the Dorfhüss and the town hall. The route then passes other winegrowers’ houses before reaching Saint-Gilles Church and a neo-rural house. Enter the cemetery by passing between the church and the war memorial. Exit at the far end of the cemetery, turning right twice, to return to the starting point (S/E).
