Park in the spaces available on Rue Louis Deiber, near the community hall.
(S/E) With your back to the car park, cross the small footbridge over the Fridolinsbach stream, then turn right onto Grand Rue.
At the end of the bend, turn left between the stables and the wayside cross onto the path running alongside the stream, then cross the first bridge on the right to continue along Rue du Château.
Back on Grand Rue, turn left immediately, just after the old washhouse, onto Rue de l’Église. After the bend to the right, you’ll arrive in front of the church.
(1) Take the time to walk around Hartmannswiller church and its fortified cemetery.
Continue along Rue de l’Église, then turn left to carry on along Grand Rue, passing the town hall. At the junction, go straight on along Route de Berrwiller, following the sign for “Berrwiller”. Ignore a path on the right and another on the left as you climb the gentle slope to the crossroads marked with a red Rectangle.
(2) Pass the return path on your left and turn right onto the farm track, then veer left (marked with a Red Triangle). At the crossroads, continue to the right. At the end of the track, turn left then immediately right to enter the woods. At the junction of the forest tracks, continue left for about 200 m.
(3) Enter Bertschwiller, a former village that is now part of Berrwiller. At the first junction, turn left onto Rue de Bertschwiller. Take the first left-hand path after about 200 m to leave the neighbourhood. Follow the path until you reach another residential area on Rue des Vosges, then continue to the end of this street.
(4) Turn right onto Rue des Plantes, then take the first left onto Rue Weiherfeld and follow this road round the bend to the right. Finally, at the junction in front of the sports hall, turn left onto Rue de Hartmannswiller and leave the village. After the bridge, carefully follow the small road until you reach the left-hand bend.
(5) At the bend, leave the road via the path on the right just after the small copse (marked with a Red Disc). At the three-way junction that follows, turn left (marked with a two-coloured Red Rectangle) to climb back up through the vineyards and rejoin the junction of the circular route.
(2) Back on Route de Berrwiller, turn right to head back down to the village of Hartmannswiller. Carry on straight ahead at the Stop sign, pass the town hall and continue straight on along Rue du Château after the old washhouse. At the end of the street, after the bridge, turn left and follow the stream. After the stables, turn right onto Grand Rue, then head back to the car park by crossing the footbridge again (S/E).
