Start the walk at the car park on Place de la République.
(S/E) Cross the car park and, opposite No. 2, take the path on the right leading to the D431. Head down the road to the left (Rue du Ballon), pass Saint-Erasme Church and the town hall, and continue to the cemetery.
(1) At the cemetery, turn left onto the street of the same name. At the crossroads, head down to the right onto Rue de l’Espérance, then, at the end, turn right again (Rue de Soultz). At the roundabout, take the D505 to the right, then right again onto the D431 (Rue du Ballon), heading towards the Grand Ballon and Hartmannswillerkopf/Vieil Armand. Walk up to the 1914–1918 shelter.
(2) Turn left, walk past the shelter, reach the park and cross it on the left. When you reach Rue de Soultz, turn right and follow it to the Schaecher Chapel.
(3) Turn right at the chapel onto Rue des Jardins, then right again onto Rue des Pommiers, and continue until you reach Rue de Thann on the left. Immediately take the path that runs between the houses and you will soon reach the Croix de la Peste, situated on the right.
(4) Return to the previous junction and continue left onto Rue de Thann until the end. Turn left onto Rue du Ballon and walk up this street to No. 60. At the corner of the house, turn right onto Rue de l’Espérance and walk to No. 49, where there is a fountain.
(5) Continue down the street and turn left onto Rue de la Colline. At the end, turn right downhill (Rue du Fossé). At the cross and the bench, turn sharply right (Rue des Vignes) and you will then reach Place de la République (S/E).
