Description of the walk

Park in the campsite car park: this is public and open to everyone.

(S/E) Return to the D5.3 road, cross it and head up the path opposite to join the trail marked with a Red Rectangle crossed out in white.

(1) Turn right, keep to the right at the three-way junction, following the markings, and rejoin the road you crossed earlier. Follow it to the left until the middle of the bend.

(2) Head left onto the Wattwiller fitness trail, following the Red Ring markings. Continue straight on until you reach the Sielbaechlé waterfall.

(3) Cross the stream and continue to follow the Red Ring markings.

(4) Leave this trail by turning right onto the Blue Ring markings. Turn sharply right at the junction, cross the stream again and reach a crossroads.

(5) Head left to follow the Chemin des Dames. Then leave the Blue Ring markings and turn right, rejoining them further on. Then turn left and continue to the crossroads located not far from the Serret Monument.

(6) Turn left to cross the stream, then right immediately afterwards. Continue straight on until you reach a crossroads opposite the cemetery and the Hartmannswillerkopf Memorial: numerous remains from the First World War.

(7) Take the track on the right, then turn right again about 150 m further on. Follow the path, which initially heads roughly east before turning sharply right onto a path marked with a Yellow Triangle.

(8) At the junction, turn right, leaving this route, cross a path marked with a Blue Disc and continue straight ahead to reach the fork next to the Serret Monument.

(6) Follow the Blue Ring markings to the left, go straight on, then take a long first turn left then right to reach the Hirtzenstein estate.

(9) Head right to follow the estate, then turn left, keeping to the Blue Ring markings. Go straight on, cross a small road and reach a three-way junction about fifty metres before arriving on the RD5.3 at the entrance to Wattwiller.

(10) Take the hairpin bend to the right, following the Blue Ring signs, join the RD5.3 and turn right to return to the outbound route.

(2) Follow this route in the opposite direction to return to the car park (S/E).
